If the answer is yes then yes you should do it otherwise Sony won't let you play
They do get hacked more than they should. I would personally not add my steam details to their databades by linking my account. The question is if the game alone is worth more than the security of your steam account.
A little criticism of the soundtrack and that's it for the fun, banned.
(The block is often and initially only temporary, but nevertheless not tolerable.)
I like to repeat myself:
Kiss my hairy Arse, Sony.
Wait a week or 2 and see if anything comes of all the backlash about this situation. You have time before you HAVE to do anything.
If you value your privacy and data hygiene, no. Sony is known for massive and regular data breaches, and that's before we even get into the fine print of what their T&C allows them to do with your information. They're as bad as microsoft, google, valve, and the like; the less such providers you forfeit your privacy for, the better.
If you don't, and you just like the game, yes. It's your choice at the end of the day, and prevailing sentiment should at maximum give you something to think about to inform your own decision and stance on the matter. Don't let us convince you not to do something you want to do.
The outrage here is absolutely justified, but if you don't care about how the companies involved use or share your data, it's a non-issue.
Linking won't compromise the security of your steam account. All it does is give them your Steam ID #, which is public anyway. (You can look it up yourself on steamrep.com)
Only thing we need is being able to skip Link account and have our crossplay desactivated. Fixing this issue is so freaking easy.
No
Is it worth it to Sony? Absolutely. They get information they can use to market to manipulate you in the future, and they can sell that information on to other people who might like to manipulate you or people like you. Their registered users metrics go up, investors are happy, more money for Sony!
Is it worth it to you? ♥♥♥♥ no, how could it be? More logins to manage, more chances for hackers to get your data, no palpable reward, will likely be seen by Sony as a green light to move forward with other dumb plans, such as their own PC launcher. More money for Sony!
