Why are you blaming Sony?
Arrowhead obviously agreed to this deal at some point. They said yes to it. Sony didn't sneak in and change things at the last minute - Arrowhead agreed to this from the start. It's their game, blame them.

They could easily have just made this game themselves without a publisher. They decided to work with Sony and agreed to their terms.
Sony owns the IP....

April 2011: Hackers Access Personal Data of 77 Million Sony PlayStation Network Users
May 2011: Personal Details on 25 Million Sony Online Entertainment Customers Stolen
June 2011: Sony Pictures Website Hacked, Exposing One Million Accounts
November 2014: Hackers Steal 100 Terabytes of Data from Sony Pictures
August 2017: Hacker Group Accesses Sony Social Media Accounts
September 2023: Sony Investigates Alleged Hack
October 2023: Sony Notifies Employees of Data Breach

And they use " security measures " to justify account linking.

Got it ?
Yeah. And Arrowhead obviously agreed to letting Sony do this. So Arrowhead knows this is an issue and are still trying to force you to do it. Why don't you blame them?

You're not being forced to create an Arrowhead Games account, you're being forced to create a Sony PSN account. Those are the facts!

Because they are not the owner of the IP ?

If they didn't want to work with Sony they could just change the IP. God knows this is hardly the only game which uses this format. It's not hard. Was the lore of HD1 so valuable they couldn't bear to make a similar but different game?

So don't use the same IP. Nobody played the first game. Until this game came out nobody cared about the lore. They could have made anything.

You guys are acting like they had a gun pointed at their heads but they agreed to all of this and had very clear alternatives. They CHOSE this option. They AGREED to this. Sony sucks but Arrowhead allowed it to happen.

So true bestie! And Arrowhead is the one forcing you. They develop the game, not Sony. Sony can't force them to do anything that they didn't already agree to in a contract.

4 Millions sold copies isn't "nobody". And the fact that Sony wanted and financed a second game pretty much tells you that the game isn't as minor as you wanna put it. Not to mention that maybe - just maybe arrowhead like the IP / Universe they created and wanted to create another one...

For a company to buy yours, you either have to be in dire straits financially, OR you willingly sell because Pecunia Non Olet.
If it's the former, the Developers would be right to try and shift the blame to Sony.
If it's the latter... they're just as (morally) culpable as Sony in this Fiasco.

So because they wanted to keep the same IP, you have to make a PSN account.

You see how that's still their fault right?

Sony is banning players from playing Helldivers 2 because those players do not have access to Playstation Network in their country and thus made them in a different region.

This in turn violates Sony's terms of services and is a banneable offense.

So no.

Sony is not doing thier best to give an enjoyable experience for everyone.

The fact of the matter is:

Sony is selling a game on Steam in regions where Playstation Network is not allowed/supported. While also mandating as per June 4th that every Steam player links a PSN account.

Meaning that a vast portion of Steam players are inherently incapeable of playing the game they were able to pay and play on Steam due to Playstation Network restrictions.

Helldivers 2 however has performed the past couple of months without the required linking showing that the linking of a Steam account to a PSN is complete and utter garbage for the ability to play the game.

Sony does in fact should get the massive flak they are getting for the simple reason that the implementation of the linking, does not support the playerbase at all.

Heck, we should get Valve involved because they have sided with players in recent years, with the Cyberpunk 77 refunds being the most well known moment

Since yall schills like to avoid this but keep bringin up spitz gaslighting us. Heres a link of a community manager at arrowhead admitting arrowhead supported sony doing this. So they could avoid legal restrictions on banning people. https://www.reddit.com/r/Helldivers/comments/1cjvw1s/arrowhead_community_manager_misty_admits_that_the/
Youre schilling for a company that is actively trying to undermine your legal protections. While they gaslight you about being on your side. After they took a bunch of money from sony. If you have zero issue with that then you should have zero issue signing power of attorney over your life to me.

No one cares if its Sony OR Arrowhead and the approach would be the same regardless.
