PNS is like a thing on the Playstation where you can play with online people right? Therefore you have to also pay for subscription just to play online too? How does this work?

No, PSN+ is the online service to play multiplayer through PSN, PSN itself is just the servers, if you're not playing through a Playstation, you don't need to get PSN+

You will need to make a free PSN account though, if you are new, or come May 30th, even if you've been playing. Making/linking your PSN account and playing Helldivers 2 with said account linked will require no more money from you. This is how it works with any game that runs through PSN when playing it on a PC instead of a Playstation.

No, creating a PSN account is completely free and is basically for Sony and Playstation products. PS+ is their subscription service that you do have to pay for and also doesn't matter if you're only a Steam user.

All of what's happening is mostly related to Sony and people's concerns about them.

Fortunately for you, Sony are well known with their though security. They've been only breached like.. 7 or 9 times for the past decade, with the most recent one being last year September/November so it will definitely not happen again. Trust me bro.
