sheeple fighting the fight eh
Opinion discarded.
If it's so trivial and won't have any impact on you and shouldn't be a big deal, then WHY is it such a big deal to Sony that they're willing to literally BAN huge swaths of their player base for this?
Especially because Steam is available in countries that don't have access to PSN.
What about money back for people who lose their access like this?
Or with people who don't want a PSN account?
Do they get their MONEY BACK?
PS: PSN is by far the most unsafe thing of all. PSN is hacked on average every 2 years.
April 2011: Hackers Access Personal Data of 77 Million Sony PlayStation Network Users
May 2011: Personal Details on 25 Million Sony Online Entertainment Customers Stolen
June 2011: Sony Pictures Website Hacked, Exposing One Million Accounts
November 2014: Hackers Steal 100 Terabytes of Data from Sony Pictures
August 2017: Hacker Group Accesses Sony Social Media Accounts
September 2023: Sony Investigates Alleged Hack
October 2023: Sony Notifies Employees of Data Breach
who knows what info Sony will be able to collect, and then inevitably leak
Preparation is important.
Imagine if people did this with other, more important issues too?
"Why complain that we don't have a plan in place for when a meteor will hit Earth? Just wait until it hits and we can all scramble to deal with it then."
It's hyperbole, obviously. But the point is, right now people AREN'T banned, there's still a chance to change, fix, or clarify this before huge swaths of the playerbase are banned.
Waiting until everyone already loses their accounts, and all the time and money they put into this game when it might be legally too late to do anything about it is not a good idea.
Also people want to know if they can fix this issues, or at least clarify it now, because they don't want to put another 100+ hours into this game before they start banning people.
The real issue is this : thousands of people can't make PSN accounts in their region, and Sony's anti-cheat bans VPN usage. Arrowhead are 'trying to get info from Sony about a fix for this' but there's nothing yet.
What possible workaround can you find for this? I don't foresee any. It would require Sony and Arrowhead to shift the way their game does multiplayer. Splitting PS players up from PC players or something. And it would require Sony to essentially say Sorry guys and they don't do that. They're the most ironfist company going. So basically.... end of the day thousands of people suddenly can't play their favourite game 3 months in.
