How many of you have any form of linked account?
Just curious. If you ever linked any account, wouldn't that be the pot calling the kettle black?

No because a lot of games have that from the start, some games say its required when it actually isn't (Dead Island 2).

There's also 125 countries that were able to play the game but will be locked out of it since those countries can't create PSN accounts, and using things like VPNs violates sony's TOS which will also ban the account which in turn locks you out of the game.

Also sony has a history of severe data breaches which many people are not comfortable with. The 2011 hacks coming to mind.

Damn can't wait to be locked out of a PC game I bought on a PC storefront to play on my PC and did play on my PC because we apparently need a console account. PSN bros, do you at least get to make new friends with the hackers annually heisting your data?
I have none. I don't own any consoles and I never had a PSN account.

I have some for Ubisoft, Discord, Youtube, Google and such, with some unused Origin and Epic Game ones that were made a decade ago

But i still can't make one for PSN so game will be unplayable

Linked accounts are done from day one, and are REQUIRED, or are completely optional and do not lock people out of the game they already spent potentially three months playing and spending money on.
Nope. I stopped buying EA games after Jedi Survivor, and I haven't bought an Ubisoft game since... the Division? I don't even remember now. But despite my EA account having 20+ long passwords and changed every 6 months, my account kept getting hacked somehow. I really don't trust Sony to be any better considering they get hacked almost twice a year.

"Linking your Steam account to a PlayStation™ Network account is required for playing the game"

I am more than happy for you to post proof that you were lied to at any stage

"Account Linking
Some players are having trouble linking their PSN accounts to their game in the initial setup screen. They may see an error code indicating a server request problem. For now, you can skip that screen and play normally. Later—after we resolve those server request errors—the game will ask people who skipped that screen to try linking their accounts again."

Never going to happen.

I stopped buying any PlayStation game after they locked cross play for games like Rocket League when cross-play was first becoming a thing and forced players to make PlayStation accounts and only let players play with other people on PlayStation.

And when it leaked that they charge third party developers for "loss of revenue" when games that are multi-platform sell well on other platforms because Sony sees every sale of a game on their console as their god-given right to have access to the money.

Or when they arbitrarily raised the prices on everything in their network without offering a single extra thing to make it worth it.

Or when they arbitrarily raised the price of games.

Or when they became the most hacked and leaked company regarding customer personal information on the planet.

Good question, they aren't getting much more from my account than a user name I don't use and password that a child can guess. Also have 2 factor randomly on that account.

NOTE: The game said from day 1 PSN accounts are required.

Linked accounts are across many companies and AAA(AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA+) games these days. Unless you avoid most of the major game companies, you probably have one.

I avoid all 3rd party "launchers" and links, period.
Hong Meiling May 3, 2024 @ 7:40pm
I linked my account because it's just what I expect. I understand and think the outrage is justified. If the game works okay without a PSN account, then Sony just wants to inflate their user count and have the ability to terminate accounts.
