On top of that, as the message states, this is Sony wanting control over player behavior. They want to be able to ban you if you say or do things they don't like. They want control over the appeals process. Of course, i'm sure we'll all be happier when the Sony banbots can just suspend your account when enough people decide they don't like you, and then ignore your appeal with a canned, automated response.
As well, it should be pointed out that only 69 countries out of 190 in the world actually have PSN, you cannot make an account if you are not from one of those 69 countries, and lying about which country you are from, or using a VPN to create an account is against Sony's TOS. This means that if they find out about it, you will get banned.
NO ONE benefits from this, other than Sony, and they added in MONTHS after people bought the game, when it is now impossible to get a refund.
Also, Arrowhead don't get a pass on this. I am so sick of people trying to go "Devs good, publisher bad." the devs chose Sony as a publisher. They could have refused to do this. They signed the contract that let Sony dictate this to them. They are just as culpable as Sony.
Only 69 out of 195 countries allow for a psn account, and Helldivers was sold in 190 countries.
That's active players from 121 countries that are being cut off and will no longer able to support Supper Earth.
