I don't understand all this drama
Honestly, I don't see any problems. Creating a PSN account is literally a matter of minutes, even blocked regions can easily do this, because there are countless ways and guides to solve this problem. Personally, I linked my old PSN account, which was registered as a child, without any problems, although I live in Russia. Why there was such a drama around this situation, although there are a huge number of games that not only require an account, but also launch a third-party client, like battlefield, gta, rdr, overwatch and etc AND NO ONE COMPLAINS ABOUT THIS, I just can’t understand.

What do I benefit from linking my account to 2nd database?

it's k-drama.

I guess you're missing the crucial part, especially with your comparisons you're making, that this is something artificial and done retroactively.
There is precedent at this very moment that this nonsense is not necessary and obviously with zero benefit for the customer.

But in game no such option if you press "skip" at 1st launch.

The fact that it's a mandatory procedure is what makes people angry about it, a Steam account should be more then enough and people are rightfully angry about been forced to do this.

Sony is now going the route of Epic, EA, Rockstar and Ubisoft.

Typically, when 3rd party accounts are mentioned on the store page as required, the people that would complain, don't ever buy the game to begin with. I am one of those people. I don't need 1000 launchers, if a game requires 3rd party, I don't buy it and Ignore it on the store page so I don't have to see it. You don't see complaints about Battlefield, GTA, RDR, Overwatch, etc, because the people that would complain never got into them to begin with.

The problem here is the bait and switch. People bought in under the assumption they wouldn't be required to link to a 3rd party account but now, AFTER the sale, the seller wants to change the terms, or in this case product. This is not okay.

Imagine if you bought a house, fully paid for it and all, and then one year later the builders of the house came back and said "we need to demolish your kitchen, we didn't actually want to sell this house with a kitchen included" ... that's crazy, people can't do that, this is the same thing on a smaller scale.

I think the problem some people have with this is we weren't aware we'd have to eventually link a PSN account when we initially bought it. I've refunded games from both Ubisoft and Activision in the past for forcing me to use their service. Now I can't because I've owned the game for too long.

It's not really about this being a huge inconvenience for me. It's more about keeping people in the dark that this was coming. I don't know if there was some twitter post or some random forum post I missed but I was not aware of this upon purchasing the game.

None. And also I will not receive any disadvantages. I would agree with this situation if I had to download a new launcher, because... I'm already tired of them, but no, it's just one new account. As I wrote before, a huge number of games on Steam are required by third-party accounts and clients, but no one complains and no one notices (or very little). But now the situation has reached absurdity, people are acting as if the game is being taken away from them.

If it's not a big deal, then why enforce it?
lemmonoski May 3, 2024 @ 2:35am
2016 called. It wants its PSN data back.
