Just don't put any tangible information on your PSN beyond what is minimally needed to do the link.
Aight, thanks
So far, released hacked data does not seem to include any information like games played etc. That seems to be API only and not seperately stored by Sony.
Makes sense since they would get in trouble with the company and not just the userbase which is another legal problem entirely since Corporations sue much more willingly from opportunity.
You also dont have to use the same email or give Sony any cc or payment data if you dont plan any purchases on their store.
You've really added to the conversation in a helpful manner, congrats.
What you suggest is plausible but not guaranteed. It can certainly happen if you use the same passwords but even if you don't, data like your name, email address, possibly phone number and real address alongside the name of your Steam profile, will likely get leaked by Sony which would then likely be sold by the hackers to scammers and/or other hackers which can data mine the information and attempt to break into your Steam (by brute forcing password aided by the data you shared with Sony) or simply by stealing your identity and impersonating you to Steam support and stealing your account that way.
Normally, just using a different password would be enough, however given the relatively high frequency and magnitude of Sony data breaches, it is more likely than not that you would be increasing the risk of your Steam account getting hacked by linking to PSN.
Sony did sweet ♥♥♥♥ all to help me get it back. They simply asked if i had a receipt from my last online game and i didn't.(last game was purchased a year before the hack) Due to that i lost my decade old account.....♥♥♥♥ sony
No you cannot because Steam will not allow log-ins from another platforms system. You can only log in to Steam with your Steam profile. You cannot log-in with your MS account or your EGS account even when linked to Steam.
By contrast EGS allows you to log in with EGS account. MS account, Steam account etc. That ABSOLUTELY would be compromised.
