to be fair they do not have any clarification about this, IT IS STATED THAT IT IS REQUIRED..
BUT, 0 hour release, you can SKIP the log in process.. so people just skip it, and tell their friend, then tell their other friend over and over.. it became NOT REQUIRED/OPTIONAL to the general public..
There is a scandal back then because of the required PSN account, but it's all gone on release because it is optional, so many people buy it knowing PSN account is only optional

There were major server issues at launch and half the playerbase couldn’t play because of it. Making people create accounts would’ve made it even worse.

As someone who's a Playstation player, and have been the majority of my life, I still think this is a dumb decision. Optional account linking is always the best in my opinion. This sort of thing creates backlash and unrest, and can even split communities.

Such a moronic take that I refuse this is a serious post and not satire. PSN has region restrictions. The store or ANY of their past announcements does not mention that in the future that this PSN requirement is reimplemented, you may not be able to play anymore if you are not in a region that's supported.

Yeah EULA's are not legally binding in pretty much any country. Gentlemen you can't sign your rights away believe it or not.
They are there to try and make you think you can, but its just a scare tactic legally.
