So I haven't bought the game. I've been (among other things) watching to see how the community is shaping up and how the game develops. And to be blunt, I don't like what I'm seeing. What do I mean by that? Well, I just don't trust them.

I don't mean this to troll - I mean this as critical feedback to the developers on the General Discussion forum. If I can't give critical feedback here, then where can I?

One of, if not the primary thing that sets off the warning flags was how they treated their customers on Discord. I get that they're just trying to make changes to rebalance the game and it's a fine-tuning act. But honestly, some of the things they let out on the Discord just don't fly. The CEO of the company even had to step in to smack the devs around. You don't talk to your customers like that. It may have been deserved to some of the naysayers, but enjoying when player base is suffering is just off-putting. Is this really what they think of us on the other side of that wall?

If it is, then why should I trust them?

Stability is the next one. We can talk about crunch - we can talk about how a live-service game is a constant work in progress, we can talk about how the launch was so much larger than they expected, but that doesn't excuse the lack of foresight. Right now, 3 months after launch, I don't see a lot of folks praising the game for its stability.

If they lack foresight, why should I trust them?

And finally, cheating - and it's a big one. Why the hell do we have to agree to an anti-cheat if there are constant reports of cheaters? Are the developers even responding to any questions about the anti-cheat at this point? You can explain away that the folks asking about the anti-cheat are in the minority, but do you know who that minority includes? The disabled. Folks who need some special peripherals to play the game who are finding themselves locked out because of GameGuard. It seems like if you want your issue addressed, then you better have a big platform on X to get their attention, otherwise you're SOL.

If their anti-cheat fails, if they don't want to respond to feedback about it, then why should I trust them?

And that brings me back to my main point. I don't get the impression that the devs are listening and I don't get the impression that they care. Why should I trust them enough to install their game, coupled with a kernel-level anti-cheat that fires off data to their URL and why should I think they aren't over there in the offices right now sitting back and enjoying the befuddlement and confusion left from their silence?

If they aren't talking about the criticism, then I can only think of two reasons:

The issues aren't important enough for them to care
They aren't actually listening to feedback given on social spaces like Discord or Steam.

If that's the case, then I don't trust them and I think anyone that does should just be careful.

TLDR, if you are very doubtful of them, it's best to read the forums and find out what you can from them. Can't guarantee anyone is going to answer each issue you have with AH one by one when there's topics of what you said spread across this forum.

After 200+ hrs in, I can tell you these complaints are 100% valid. I have seen the cheaters, I have more crashes with each patch, the devs DO crap on ppl in the discord. FUN FACT: they do not read steam forums, so you have to accept the possibility of being verbally harassed on Discord just to be heard. After testing the new patch, I uninstalled the game to make way for titles I might find more enjoyable and that aren't receiving any updates anytime soon. For example, single player experiences, playing classics that have been the same for ages. I just needed a refresh. I will probably come back sometime later.

Afaik they only listen to their "yes" ppl over on Discord and ignore virtually everyone else on twitter, Reddit and Steam.

I know some pundits are gonna go "well Steam is a cesspool", yeah, so is Discord, no social media space is ever a paragon, don't be so naive and stupid (to anyone that mentions that).

You right and which even here the devs have been banning people and shutting down posts... My main issue with the game is the fact it's almost a cloud game... Like your client does next to nothing in gameplay in fact Idbet it only hold assets and does not even load them... Also the game seems to be a werid between an old COD and Battlefeild game in how it handles it's online play... You have a host who can ban any one but play on dedcated servers... I would perfer just making the host be the server and migrate when needed and add vote to kcik or promote a new host... Or just go full dedcatd severs with a modern match maker and have no hosts just squads... I have no idea why they did all 3 and tried to make it work.

I took a look at their discord set up and it's honestly a mess; I have no clue how they get actual feedback on there other than the occasional goofy poll they throw up.

There's no actual feedback section, almost every channel is basically general discussion and so many people on there constantly filling chat that I can't fathom how they pull any info from players.

The lack of stability is whats killing the game for me. I wont be playing anytime soon until they put some serious effort into sorting out the connection issues. Every other game I get booted back to ship because of network issue. It's wasting the players time and feels like a kick in the nuts tbh. My connection is fine. If its host leaving or whatever doesn't matter. Just put in something so it doesn't happen. If it's host leaving, allow someone else to be host. If its connection issue at least have something in place that attempts to reconnect instead of just porting back to ship. If I host a game and the game decides it wants there to be a network issue then I just get left in a game on my own and everyone gets booted. Rejoin button maybe? Anything but what we have now.

I have no issues with stability/performance. I do know other people who have had their performance ruined with some of the updates. This is an issue that is not universal.

I have only encountered 3 cheaters so far. There are exploits in the game, but I don't count these since they do not involve anything outside of the game. Cheating from my experience is rare.

I personally don't care about how some developers respond to players as long as it's not as egregious as the Turkov COO. If your feelings are hurt by how the developers respond then don't support them. You are free to not support whoever you want for whatever reason.
