What happen? Helldivers 2
I stopped playing after "that patch". Then i decided to come back after a few days and see if maybe i was to upset at the time. The answer is no. The fun factor is pretty much gone. Nothing is viable and if it is, its on a timer before they "balance" it. Its started to get repetitive with the same enemies, same biomes, same missions, and same bugs that plague the game. Hopefully AH can make this game fun again because i love this game, but how it stands right now, i think ill be returning to civilian life for awhile.

Nothing is viable? Then how do we have close to 100% success rate on D9?

"and if it is, its on a timer before they "balance" it." that is quite literally in the same sentence.

If we could all just have a moment of silence for OP's fun factor...

Thank you. Carry on!

Kinda dug yourself into a hole if you think only a few things are viable. Every weapon has an ideal faction to use them against, ideal situation, build, strategy to using them.

Not going to say you are unskilled, but you ought to spend more time with each weapon and be more experimental. Few things are going to be truly generalist like Liberator.
why would i spend more time learning a weapon for it to be completely reworked right before they drop more premium content??. i used to crossbow before patch learned all its ranged and hold overs to reliably engage enemies and agro bases from 100+ meters now its a completely different weapon that excels at nothing. Why waste the time again learning a new system if AH are going to make it useless just in time to sell you the next thing?

Well, you gotta remember that AH has said that they want players to rely on strategems over weapons. That's the biggest part of why we get nerfs to weapons is because we have to rely on strategems despite them having long cool downs and not able to be used in a strategem jammer area. If anything, they need to either buff strategems by reducing the cool down timer and get rid of strategem jammers or buff ALL the weapons and give us reasons to use certain weapons depending on the mission/enemies we are facing. So far, sickle is the only good option for bots and that got an ammo nerf. That ammo nerf hurts when you are on the fire planet, which has a longer time for heat weapons to cooldown on, and you get swarmed by enemies forcing you to run away like the French did in WWI or waste a reload to get your weapon back to working order before you can defend yourself from the chainsaw robots that always rush at you.

Crossbow was a gimmick and sucked arse. It didn't need a nerf but eh plenty of other items got buffed. They had multiple bug fixes this last patch too. Sounds like some troll post but most laser items got buffed and they're keeping the game fresh and not stale by using the same four strats, try out different builds (its a lot of fun). If you dont like the game or its too hard thats another story.

When you think your participation means something, like elections.

See that's a core issue no one really talks about on here, and when anyone does it egts shot down by the fanboys instantly.

The devs and the GM themselves are basically telling you how to play the game, rather than *letting you* play the game how you want, and that's really more of an issue when player agency is taken out of the game itself.

Each time they nerf a weapon and keep saying stuff like "we'd rather you rely heavily on strata", "we'd rather you just run away most of the time", "we'd rather you encounter patrols more often", it becomes a no-win situation for the player, because you are being pushed around by the devs whims and wishes, rather than being given space and choice, and it's becoming more and more evident with each patch, each discord and tweet message from their own mouths.

yes the devs aren't malicious to hell, they appear to want to make a really fun game, but at the same time they are very obviously within their desires to control many facets of the game, from the story, to the way the player plays their game, and I feel like that's too much control being given to the devs and little for the player, which means the player is being given less choice and agency as a result, and well, that can not be fun for a lot of people.

The most recent patches have basically told me that most of the guns aren't really viable, most of the stratas aren't as viable as others, and the ones that are come with lengthy CD's, or fill for only ultra specific tasks (like railgun shot or 500kg mostly being used for boss type AI).

I am slowly but surely starting to feel what OP is feeling, in that the game just isn't feeling as fun as how it first started out as. There's still too many bugs, general stability for game performance is growing worse each patch, the ragdolling is just becoming more obscene and unfair to let me fight back (sometimes I'd get ragdolled by nothing in the given area and I'd chalk that up to dev trolling).
DistantReaper May 2, 2024 @ 12:03pm
I'm not entirely sure why they nerf a PVE game.

Just let everyone run around with their favourite weapons and have fun. They could create incentives to use other weapons. Maybe skins and unlocks if you accomplish certain weapon challenges. More XP if you diversify your load-out. More XP and Achievements if you run less powerful gear.

Plenty of ways to solve this "problem" without destroying fun.
Neyaria May 2, 2024 @ 12:04pm
Friendlist still not working, and they nerf the fun out of the game thats why

Silly, we complete helldive with various loadouts of all types. Everything is viable in the right combination.
