I would really like to see some caves or even bug tunnels.
In their recent player poll, different objectives, modifiers, biomes and planets was the most requested feature.
Maybe eventually we'll get some more dynamic mission types as a part of the story or something.
I doubt it will be as transformative as a mission where you are invading an automaton ship like you describe though, but cool idea.
What if we had an island map with boats to traverse the water? And then we can have bot gunboats and swimming bugs
However, that doesn't mean we can't have variety. Missions on top a space ship are unlikely, but missions in an urban environment could work. The original Helldivers had that. Would just need to ensure the streets are wide enough and there are ways to access rooftops. Maybe we can get ladders added to the game, too.
I'm sure we'll see other planet tilesets as time goes on.
I think a suburban environment could work. Imagine being ambushed by a tank squashing a single family home out of nowhere
