This is nothing but a bad attempt at baiting and trolling.
With more careful updates and a better handling of the issues, I think the game would have been in the healthy 100k range.
But let's speak about their work and how it demonstrates the lack of competence that exists in that workplace. While the latest patch was good, it also brought a number of drawbacks. We need a fix that demonstrates that they mean business, with proper balance and no more problems or crashes.
The extra pressure that has come with their success has actually proved damaging. It is terrible that they find themselves in this predicament; they really need some time to collect themselves.
I've seen that you frequently post about statistics declining and that you can't cope with them. However, I strongly advise avoiding ignoring topics like this before they cause an aneurysm. It appears that you only ever bring up the nah huh reply when it comes to this topics.
Helldivers 2 was a meme game. Meme games attract a lot of people who wouldn't normally play them, either because they simply recognize the game as "oh, this is that thing everybody's playing!" or, in the case of multiplayer games, because they have friends who get them to play with them.
It was never going to maintain 500k concurrent players. It's a niche PVE extraction shooter made by an AA studio. It was never going to compete with tryhard esports games like DOTA 2 or CSS 2, or massive singleplayer experiences like Elden Ring or GTA V.
I mean, let's face it - Helldivers 2 is not the biggest game. What content *is* there is polished, but there's... what? A half dozen or so different biomes, two types of enemies you face (for now), the same points of interest on every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ planet, etc. Frankly, the gameplay variety is pretty limited, currently. It doesn't have a Fortnite budget and it was never going to pull Fortnite numbers. And that's fine. It's been able to be the breath of fresh air that it is specifically because it isn't a by the numbers AAA title.
Also, the push for new content is not helpful whatsoever, because Arrowhead has already been struggling just to keep up with monthly warbonds. Expecting Helldivers 2 to have the same level of content as a game with several times as many people working on it and a dozen times the budget is how we end up with DOT effects being completely broken for *several months.*
It's painful to see how Helldivers 2 has squandered its initial success. The dwindling player numbers clearly show that mismanagement and poor decision-making are dragging the game down. You are right the developers seem to lack the vision and competence needed to steer this game in the right direction.
Your concern for the game's future is spot-on. Instead of learning from their mistakes and delivering careful updates, the devs keep stumbling with every patch. The latest patch, while showing some promise, also brought a host of new issues. This just highlights the chaotic balance and persistent problems plaguing the game.
The fact that Helldivers 2 isn't in the healthy 100k player range is a testament to this mismanagement. The extra pressure from their initial success seems to have only made things worse. It's a shame because I genuinely love this game and want it to thrive.
We need a fix that shows the developers mean business—one that brings proper balance and finally addresses the persistent crashes and bugs.
It's a horde shooter game.. They are niche games.
Look at Vermintide 1, 2 and Darktide..
And it's silly of you to say that Vermintide and Darktide are niche when they're the most popular 40k games. And since it's 40k you can't get anymore mainstream.
You got 13th in that race!
I mean your personal best was top 3, but 13th!!!
Someone, somewhere out there will be extremely happy and tell you you're doing AMAZING, despite the fact.....you did worse.
