For bugs I also enjoy the autocannon, but use it against spewers instead. For chargers I usually rely on a teammate with a railgun to take its leg armor off then shoot it dead. If I still want the ability to fight chargers I'll take EAT or recoilless rifle, but the railgun is typically considered the better meta choice here. If my teammates has heavies covered very well then I like to take the MG-43 with supply backpack since it can penetrate the front plate of those shrimp looking warrior bugs that typically deflect most other shots. Set its fire rate to low and you can sustain fire with low recoil for quite a long time.
Autocannon can deal with chargers by shooting its back leg after it charges you, but I've found it's very inconsistent whether it works or not so I don't rely on it as a viable strategy in later difficulties.
Slugger can be super good in the right hands because it will chew up medium armor, but you need to learn to use your side arm to clear little guys when fighting bugs.
Plas 1 is a great weapon against everything and factions kinda like a pocket auto canon, but has a low ammo count so if you are not mindful and disciplined with your shots, your gonna drain your ammo quick.
