Losing the first war or nah?
It seems like we are just bound to lose the first war for a variety of reasons at this juncture.

The defend order against the bots is either overtuned or just not fun so people skip it which if my understanding of how the war effort works completing the campaigns are the only way it’s contributed to. Uncertain if mixed campaign (e.g win 2 campaign missions and fail the last one) help or hurt over all.

Due to the popularity of the game, which is a double edged sword, you have people just obsessively farming one mission to turbo grind a game that by 30 (which I hit at 50 hours without grinding one mission) you’re likely pretty close to maxed out and doesn’t take that long. Their fun, fine, but the core concept of the game is fighting a war which they are aggressively losing.

What’s your guess? Pull it out by the skin of our teeth or see you next war?

Considering that 7+ is absolute cancer with a pug team.. Most playing 7+ flatout avoid that ♥♥♥♥.

Mort seems to be winning though, so.. It's likely just going to be a skin of the teeth. I do think this one was supposed to be a loss by default - hench why Bot defense missions feels.. very overtuned.

Theres frankly just too many people playing on liberation planets like Malevelon for us to actually win this weekly.
Idk everybody wants to be on the meme planet i guess?

Not that we really lose out on anything. 10-12k req is nothing.

EDIT: i will say, forcing the civ rescue mission in every sector on a defense planet was a HUGE mistake.
MASSIVE mistake for the enjoyment of the game.
We dont wanna play those every second or third mission, sorry.

I'd like to know more about this mechanic which is never mentioned or discussed anywhere.

Wiki, video?

Yeah I quickly got sick and tired of the buggy glitchy mess that the civ rescue missions are with dropships flying in at ground level(clipping through terrain and buildings, smacking players all over the place) as if the 20 dropships a minute was not enough of a crap show.

I did a few of them, even when you have a team that can win them they are simply not fun to play so here I am, not playing them.

Also does not help that it feels like 80% of the random games I join are XP farms that only do the quick "kill 150/whatever bots" then aborts the mission chain to pick another "kill 150" mission for dat efficient level gainz!

So.. been visiting the bugs much more lately, people over there tend to actually want to play the game and do a variety of missions so its much more fun.

I agree, rescue missions are not my cup of tea.

I prefer the missions that let you roam freely and accomplish various goals, as that is what Helldivers means to me.

I also find the rescue missions very challenging on higher levels, unless you have a coordinated team.

There is still a LONG way to go before we end up on the streets of Super Earth, if they push that far. Unless the devs have something planned for introduction of some new content...

how can you win when its so broken and people can just jump areas rather then complete areas and farm medals on defence missions lol

The defend order against bots is not fun and it is boring. I played it like 10 times on different difficulty settings, to 'do my part'.

It's just a simple horde mode on almost the same maps for 15 minutes. How many times you can play that?

Moreover there is no other rewards than yellow currency for stratagems, for which you also get heavy penalties when civilian dies.

I much prefer playing mission maps against bugs. Bots maps are boring in general, you always have to pick up armor piercing heavy weapon, which game has like 1 or 2 right now and go through camps. It is making this game very linear, there is like one meta you need to follow. I like co-op PvE games for making each match different, with perks, skills, weapons, different players and so on. Here, matches are like all the same.

I think the it only counts as defended once the timer for an eligible planet runs out, and they seemed to stretch the mission out to last the entire week.

Last I checked, we're at 100% on our current "Defend" planet, though the progress bars show differently.

We're guaranteed to get our payout by Tuesday if everyone keeps playing as they are.

PS: Everyone should be 5/8 as of right now.

With a game this new and with full servers, I would expect the weekly community challenge would be completed by now.

You are looking at the wrong bar this one you see at the end of the mission isn't the one that defend the planet as that bar show the Liberation which is always the case for a Planet under the control of Super Earth. The real bar is the one on the galactic war map that you see on the planets.

So, seriously... Is this knowledge just word of mouth or is there an actual explanation somewhere?

I very much doubt that people are going to care about something they can't possibly know about. Unless it is explained somewhere in game and I missed it? But I very much doubt so.

Logically, this sounds correct, but I feel like it's bugged.

If that is our actual progress bar (with 700K+ players), then something is wrong.

I feel like making the wars winnable by "skin of teeth" is almost intentional? It *is* supposed to be a universe where humanity's only just scraping by through sheer DEMOCRACY.

I tried to find written down info about the campaign and how it works and o couldn’t find anything specific. I’ve been cruising the discord and subreddit and watched way too many YouTube videos so maybe my understanding is wrong but it’s a parroted talking point surrounding the game. The first games wiki page explains the galactic conflict different as well.
