I felt like a massive thorn in the squad's side when using this as well, both for wasting ammo and for sitting around like an idiot trying to lock the damn thing on most of the time.
I don't think you even watched the video.
The one redeeming factor here is that you can one shot fabricators from miles away. But just like in the video, if your target is not clearly in line of sight and you can only see it partially then forget about it locking on.
It would not be as bad if you could dumb fire it. Actually it would probably be tons better if you could switch mode and dumb fire it whenever you want, with the lock on mechanism being an extra.
Wasting backpack space for the reload is pretty much the cherry on top.
Using the spear you don't have the luxury of lining up a headshot all the time, you pray to liberty the damn thing works and you take any hit you can.
(And no they didn't fly past the target, it only does that at hugging distance)
I too was like what? you mean the Spear?
Sometimes it's a 1 shot kill on titans, other times it takes all the ammo and still doesn't drop. You can't pick and choose where on the titan it hits, because it's a lock on weapon (front, back, sides obviously you can)
I tend to hold my finger down on the mouse button so it fires as soon as it locks, because the lock on it pretty terrible, as seen in your video.
The game has so many bugs and issues, not sure the developers really know where to start fixing everything.
Then again it requires some black magic voodoo powers to even have it allow you to fire so waiting isn't really an option in practice, you best take every shot you can get.
