My buddy and I were having a blast during the Terminid Offensive, but we wanted to help out our fellow divers against the Automatons. On the first dive into the jungle of hell called Malevelon Creek, our squad was already down on its last pair of legs; I dropped into a hail of gunfire while my buddy dropped near a wounded ally hiding behind a rock to collect myself. The last guy, however, was immediately sent into the arms of Lady Liberty too soon.

It was then it happened. The wounded guy immediately shot my buddy with his side-arm, as I hopelessly watched his body fall limp on the mud and oil; he then immediately apologized that he needed the ammo... from my dead friend's gun.

The drop-ship arrived soon enough for a failed mission of extracting civilians. Yet how can we really do that when 2 annihilation tanks are blocking the path? The last wounded guy (W4) and I ran for it, he was further than me and I was on my last stim pack, Yet he voiced over comms that he's not letting another man die because of him, and he screamed out on top of his lungs charging into the soulless machines with a live grenade. Immediately turning into paste as he tasted his last cup of Liber-TEA.

I was able to make it to the dropship only with a sliver of health full of blaster wounds a broken arm and wounded legs

I will never forget W4's sacrifice. May this story be a message for us all, fellow Helldivers; despite our differences, I, too, will gladly throw my life in the name of Democracy if I had to.

Yet what about my moments? My moments of comradery? Another moment to spread freedom for one last time? All these moments will be lost, like tears... in Rain.

Was the first week so still learning and unlocking stuff and this was one of the first times we were playing against the bots.
railgun was free for the day but this mission had longer stratagem cooldowns so ammo was a constant issue for the 2 of us.

The 50% chance to not die armour saves me like 3 or 4 times in the first 15 seconds xD

Robot Defense missions on +7 with a pug team is absolute vietnam ptsd.
