Remove or rework "Retrieve Essential Personnel" missions
It's going to be borderline impossible to complete defense campaigns until this black sheep of a mission type is addressed. people will stick around in defense campaigns for any other mission type but will dip from squads once this one comes up.

This mission type has single highhandedly made defense campaigns significantly more frustrating due to being unable to keep a squad together for it, thus making completing any mission chain involving it practically nonviable for players relying on Quickplay.

And because of squads falling apart of not even joining ones with this mission type, there is ZERO progress made on the defense effort for anyone playing in a difficulty that has missions chains. You either complete all the missions, or get ZERO contribution.

With R.E.P.s in their current state of play and gameplay feel, they're actively encouraging player non-participation and harming the playerbase's chances of succeeding with defense campaigns.

once things get out of control its hard to comeback but i do agree the ships come in after you take one out.
one way to do it is to have 3 players with the rocket and one player pushing the buttons

The issue is that the missions require diversionary tactics. I can understand why most people don't use them as most games don't allow for that as enemies are programmed to beeline to the escorted npcs. However, in this game the enemies will always prioritize targeting you as their threat.

If you aren't using a strategy that involves nothing but anti-tank cannons and mortars, then the best way to do it is have one person equip stealth armor and have the others stay outside of the main zone so enemies will spawn around them rather than in the escort area. The stealthed guy then goes and releases the engineers. If they aggro enemies, then they run to one of the other three to try and get the enemies off themselves.

It's still difficult to execute in a random group, so it is better if you have mic on push to talk (I never keep it always activated) so you can propose it.

I'm assuming he's referring to the escort mission.

I posted about an issue with these missions. Me and a buddy thought we might be doing something wrong. We opened the doors of the confinement areas but they ran to the big door and just stood outside. We ran around the perimeter throwing everything we could at them, but it didnt matter, we went full time - mission failed with 0 rescues. Anyone else have that happen?
