Here's some from me then.
to be honest, the point system should be removed, it prevents discussions because of worng assumptions.
Of course.
That's the very definition of hype.
Devs themselves were like: WTF?
It's just a game to have fun. It's not really designed with any insights or following any modern loot shooter / MMO shooter "best practices".
But devs never wanted to make such a game. They just wanted to make a game that is fun to play in the evenig with friends where you can blow stuff up and shout "For Democracy".
The hype is a complete social phenomena. Probably because the art style is so refreshing oldschool, and the game loop is so refreshingly vague and doesn't rely on any form of commitment, so that the vast majority of ppl with a job and a real life can just have fun without long term investment.
And that kind of target audience in that age is also super receptive for that art style of 70s / 80s sci fi with Star Wars vibes and bugs from Starship Troopers).
Yes, it's a hype. Yes, it's not for you guys expecting Destiny 3 or any kind of next gen loot shooter.
Hope you can still refund and do not exceed 2h playitme yet.
this could be it, Im not the target audience. Probably because the style is not new to me and therefore it feels more like a revival than being refreshing. with the other points I mentioned, there is not enough for me to be hyped like many other.
I'm not sure if you're looking something very specific (like call of duty) or maybe mistaking intentional design decisions as flaws.
I can kind of see what could be perceived as bad (like clunky controls and slow movement, which gives the IMPRESSION of bad animation), but I think all of those were design choices.
Fair points. Exactly what it was in the original though and what people came back for.
All fair points, that need to be address, but I'd like to point out people are enjoying the game in spite of them.
Again, I'd love an example.
What helldivers does hasn't been replicated in another game yet. It's combination of:
Also, when you're thinking of your examples, ask yourself if that game is a co-op game where you need to cooperate, or a game that allows a 2nd person to run next to you.
I know many will disagree because the following exampe got a lot of complains in the past, but when it comes to graphics, animations and gunplay, Darktide is better. DT has other issues (both game are repetetive) and I would like to see the Helldivers campaign map in DT, but regarding the mentioned above points, i stick with my statement.
Relying on the team and working together is also mostly about staying close together and shooting enemies while one teammate e.g. uploads data. Like in many other co-op games
In summary, for me HD2 is a great idea but the execution is average.
you actualy got a lot of free dlc stuff.
To be fair, a bait post would still be a bait post even without the point system...
This guy pretty much sums up my take on the issue.
