Some strategy suggestions: You can play on lower difficulties, and I recommend mostly trying the terminids on higher difficulties before diving into automaton planets. I also recommend more armor-piercing stratagems or later ones like the Eagle 500kg Bomb strike, with better weapons like shotguns like the Breaker. These are a little later down the line from terminids but they work real well with tearing automaton limbs apart. Another tip: some heavy enemies have weaknesses, like some heavy enemies have a weakspot - mostly being the head or the glowy parts. Some will call in bot drops, most notably the Commissars (prioritize killing them, as mentioned, they'll call in bot drops, and you can kill them even before they send the flare up into the sky) who you can identify from their very similar appearance to troopers and glowing sword arm(s).
I also recommend turret stratagems, like the Rocket Sentry or Mortar Sentry. And, most armor-piercing stratagems like autocannons, disposable anti-tank, recoiless rifles, etc.
It's much easier when paired with an armor that gives you more grenades (for early game, recommended armor is CE-35 Trench Engineer which you get on the third page of the default warbond). Try diving around your enemies, flanking, and juking them to get the upper hand. Especially with scout striders (AT-ST looking robots), you just go up right next to them (not too close, they can stomp you pretty easily), dive to their right/left while they are distracted (doesn't have to be, they turn slower than you) and kill their pilot as soon as you can. When it comes to killing hulks, you can almost 1 shot them with expendable anti-tank, pair this with a few autocannon and/or recoiless rifle shots and you can take them down even when they are looking directly at you. You can also kill hulks with your hellpod, same goes for Bile Titans. They are both fairly easy targets with your hellpod given that they are slow and massive enemies. *Sneaking up behind a hulk and hitting it's orange parts on it's back is also a viable strategy.
Overall, it's mostly strategy that involves failure of automaton missions, as they actually shoot back, I see how it may be hard for some.

Nonetheless, please consider this information next time, and most importantly - enjoy helldiving and spreading liberty and freedom by all costs!

True they need to fix the difficulty, hard on bugs is easy while hard on automatons is focking impossible

No problem. I'm glad I've done my part in getting a foothold to the long climb to total liberation.

To me it's not so much their induvidual strength, but more the amount that spawns during the extraction missions, it feels like a drop ship comes in every 5-7 seconds and drop 6-8 heavies at least.

Demoralization of SUPER EARTH Citizens will not be tolerated. The nearest Democracy Officer has been notified and will be issuing an arrest warrant.

You really haven't seen anything yet if you think automatons are difficult

Additional tips -
This one's most important. Read this tip FIRST.
Automatons are susceptible to suppressive fire. This means that if you suppress them enough, they'll become majorly inaccurate and you can get away. This makes it much easier to kill them as well.

Deploy mortar sentries while running away from an enemy towards extract, it helps clear out enemies that may be chasing you there. (Do please deploy it farther from enemies. Try sneaking around them, otherwise it'll either destroy itself, or the bots it's targeting will destroy it.
Rocket sentries are best fitted for high areas and high stake scenarios when there may be a heavy.
Expendable anti-tanks can shoot down dropships in one shot when aiming for the engines. It won't be of any use if you shoot em down after they drop the bots, you have to act quick.
If there's a SEAF-SAM on the map, activating it will automatically prompt it to shoot down any nearby dropships, this won't be of too much use considering it's a 3 shot, and by the time it gets destroyed it's already dropped it's payload of bots and is leaving the area, if you even are lucky enough to get it shot down. It's surprisingly not that accurate. (This does NOT require any stratagems. It's just automatic.)

The problem with Automatons is how random their damage feels. With bugs you always know what is up (except Ninja-Chargers). Without the shield you get 1 shot multiple times every mission, even from random projectiles that weren't even intended for you.

Another problem is the hilariously atrocious weapon balance. Precision weapons should be good against them, but there are none that aren't completely dogass. The AM rifle is a complete meme, any of the primary snipers are terrible, the Senator is terrible. That leaves you with the Autocannon, which is admittedly brilliant against them, but this waives your shield - meaning you will get 1 shot by some random artillery shell that missed another player by accident.
The AM rifle can 1 tap most bots except for the hardiest of hulks and tanks. Even on Hulks a couple of shots on its head and you will kill it. I use the Diligence Rifle and you can 1 tap the basic bots and 2 tap the devastators of course this is headshots only. The tanks need 2 grenades on the vent to kill it (Impact for ease of use). The most important things to be aware of are Canon Turrets, Rocket Devastators, Hulks (With Rocket Attachment), and Annihilator Tanks.

And something that's easier to do with bots than with bugs is to disengage. Bots are extremely slow its pathetic just do the objective then run away they will never catch up.

"Ninja-Chargers"? I believe you mean Stalkers, but correct me if otherwise
I may seem a tad 'rambunctious' without lack of better word, by correcting you. Pardon me if so. I just want to spread information crucial to the success of all Helldivers alike, as this includes the names of enemies for easy identification. (Even though those interested in enemy artifacts or ranks are nothing more than traitors, please don't report me to the democracy officer! I mean it only for good!)

Bots are the perfect complement to the bugs currently. Git gud, my young scrub-lord; add me as friend and I'm down to clown just for the pleasure of playing HD2.

I find the biggest issue with automatons is how many enemy types of one-hit kill attacks. If armor getting fixed changes this then it might not need to be nerfed.

They meant exactly what they said. Chargers who go unnoticed until they are up next to you because their audio cue seems to be pretty low.

Automatons are easier than the terminids if you have good accuracy, but teamwork is essencial so they wont call drop ships. The terminids some times comes in a horde of hunters or call like 3 bug breaches at the same time wich is much harder than drop ships full of hulks
