-trash clear?
-fast bug hole clear?
-anti-armor / elite?
i myself specced myself for fast bug hole clears because amount of patrols and horde size is quite large in 7-9. i let others run meta build.
shield backpack and grenade launcher. quickly clearing nests, less bugs to dance with. with it i use 2 orbital strats, depending on situation eagles, and lastly for enchantment, if noone picked stamina ench. then.
However, I have noticed the shield backpack is a common go to for 7 and above, the additional damage mitigation, works wonders.
I honestly have never seen someone use a rover pack at anything above a 6 difficulty, and anyone that does, usually ends up rage quitting.
I personally just choose whatever suits my fancy at the time. Supply pack is probably my most common, but I also sometimes take a Autocannon, and though others can take that pack, I'm usually the one wearing it. Reload's super fast if you can count your shots and leave one round in the chamber.
I usually take the shield backpack if I am going to be close in, like if I am running a flamethrower.
Downsides are the occasional team or user kills and it sometimes pulls patrols you're trying to skip.
Negates bug attacks (especially that annoying slow from those fast agile buggers), grants some form of CC immunity and recharges quite quickly.
Laser is a fantastic option too but only for the bugs, use only the shield for automatons.
Yea, the drawing Patrols part is one of the reasons I hate the thing, but I suppose that depends on play style. It would be kind of nice though to have it so you can toggle the rover on and off, so it's not always out and you could avoid this situation. I'd probably take it WAY more.
