Flamethrower needs a buff
I been experimenting with Flame builds and Flame thrower does not work like an actual flamethrower its hard to ignite the ground and the flame stream should be a lot longer. Flame throwers throw a gel and the flamethrower in game should do this. Its very very difficult to use and weak. Let me know how anyone else has been using the flamethrower.

Yeah I'm not sure the rocks can burn
Unless it's a special napalm that sticks for a while somehow
I wouldn't mind it buffed a bit in terms of range tho

I've been using it up to 6, haven't tried goofing with it on 7 yet and I have 0 hopes for it above 7.

Don't get me wrong, it needs some improvements to it: Some slow effect, bugs avoiding the flame or actually fleeing when on fire would make it a lot better.

But against bugs it can clear a decent amount of enemies imo. It can also grill a Charger relatively effectively, if I don't have anyone to strip the armor off of it it's much easier to kill with a flamer than with an MG43/Stalwart imo.
With the jump pack I can jump onto a rock the bugs can't get onto, wait for them to bunch up next to it and then just burn them up slowly from relative safety. Or jump over/away from the horde in front of me and create some extra distance (which allows me to dive and put out the fire I've set to myself). Only gripe is that you cannot aim while jumping...

It's definitely not meta, arguably not even great but it's fun and that makes it worth using in my book. 11/10 would take Flamer over Laser Cannon again.

And please give us armor or a booster that makes us immune to fire damage or at least to being set on fire (replace 30% recoil on engineering kit with it?). I think having to dive when on fire is the biggest risk when using the flamethrower.

The flamer is flat out useless vs bots. Range/Poor dmaage against them. Makes it only good Vs bugs. Would be nice if it could get a narrow mode (Change Fire Menu) like how a realistic flamer works where it's a stream and not a cone to switch to against them to boost damage/range and make it have better dot or something that way it could be better vs bots and the heavier targets like chargers. Otherwise you basically need a shield even against bugs to really make it work otherwise you get slowed to death and set yourself on fire. It does need a base damage buff and the flame dots in general are just under powered. In addition I think it should just have it's ammo in the tank doubled and the reserves cut in equal to make it more of a suppression weapon.

Real flamers don't have this fantasy short range, a range increase could be very helpful.

Also, the direct stream deals a lot of damage, but all fire DoT effects kinda suck, terribly, they can't kill crap, they should look into increasing the fire (and gas) DoT.

Every "upgrade" weapon needs a buff. Either ammo reserves or damage. The reasons to use anything else but the breaker are few and far between.

Yeah you see this is exactly what im talking about, flame throwers use a gel they dont use a gas spray, its a gel and it squirts out of the tank if it gets on you your done. It doesnt extinguish in water and it will burn everythng including rocks. So I would like this fixed if possible. However after writing this I wonder how op this would be lol

Right now the only use I see for the flamethrower is to stagger charges while you are low level. It is the best weapon around level 10 for this role. However, it quickly falls off when you reach level 20.

Agree 100%.

Cons:
- range is abysmall i can clear an entire smal patroll in 80+m with a auto shotgun but the Flamethrower is useless even when they get in range
- damage is low and direct damage is lower
- can´t kille big targets in time
- useless against bots as they just instakill you if you get into Flamethrower range
- no stagger or CC on it
- can set you or teammates on fire
- burns the ground infront of you so you need to wait before you can enter a nest after use
- medium bugs gain fire attacks while they burn basically buffing the bugs
- takes up a support weapon tool slot
- takes up the screen making it harder to aim for everyone else
- You can kill smal and medium bugs faster and from longer range with litteraly anything else


Pros:
- looks cool af


What they shouldh do:
- Option 1 turn it into a extreamly high dps weapon:
It has such a insane ammount of flaws that it wouldh have to deal insane Damage on close range. Make it kill anything in seconds including Bots and Heavys.
- Option 2 make it a powerfull CC Weapon:
Give it a narrow mode in the Weapon menu so it can shoot in a wide cone or 35m infront in a focused mode. Make Bugs burn longer and make it deal % damage so everyting dies the same making it viable even on higher difficulty.

Give us a amore that makes immune to fire damage and burning. Maby reduce the Ammo count on it but then it wouldh have a clear Tank killer or Crowdcontroll roll. Currently the Flamethrower is just coll but thats about it.

This is one of the very few weapons that can be fixed easily by literally just adding MORE damage to it. It needs to deal significantly more damage - preferably on a rapid ramp-up.

Right now the damage is pitiful considering how dangerous it is to actually use. Flipside is that it is one of the few trash weapons that can damage Chargers.
