Would love something like that !
It's just boring to play compared to basically every other kind of mission.
Even the classic tower defense elimination missions are more fun because you can try to run through the chaos to get samples and it's over pretty quickly.
The core mission design of the evacuations is the problem, not just the spawn rate and difficulty.
And as you say, they force them into every operation.
That lead to me just not playing defense campaigns. I try it after every patch to see if they have fixed it but until now everything else is just more fun and that's more important to me as a player as some meta campaign goals.
