Why is reloading in this game such a pain?
Considering the stressful and hectic nature of this game I find it insanely frustrating that so many times I reload and think I have reloaded but when I start shooting just to realise its still empty. The amount of times iv died now because of a failed reload must be in the double digits. Anyone else finding this to be the case?

Reload isn't so bad until you try to shoot before the reload animation finishes and the game thinks there's no ammo but still consumes a reload, effectively making you reload twice and wasting a full ammo mag.

I personally enjoy the fact that staged reloading is a thing, especially for heavy weapons

Me too. I Like the recoilless and autocannon animations.

This really applies primarily to your rifle/secondary for me. Getting violated by 100 bugs while also making sure that I shoot at just the right time after a reload or dont do certain evading actions that might cancel it in the heat of the moment feels unnecessary.

my favourite is pressing 5 to use a supply backpack, hearing the noice, seeing the animation, but my mags are still 0/7 and the backpack is still 4/4.

It's kinda cool when you thought you fully reloaded, get a click on an empty chamber, press reload again and all the diver does is pull the charging handle to feed a round into the chamber. It feels like such an organic fumble, I really enjoy that the reloads are kept track of to this level.
It's quite good where you can swap in a new mag , dodge and then pull the bolt to finish the animation

All it takes is just a short glance at the bottom left

life is a pain in the ass but at the end of the day its better to reload instead of laying face down in the dirt while bugs eat your corpse so stop complaining and just reload

It's incredibly frustrating, I agree. It happens all the time on the breaker. I run dry, I reload.. I KNOW I RELOAD, I 100% RELOAD but then when I shoot it goes "nope, you didn't reload" and then I have to reload AGAIN but this time the reload just takes a second, almost like a jam instead of an actual full reload. I hope they fix/change it.

Makes for more intense firefights, I like it.

That's not a jam, you swap the mags and then have to pull the bolt back, if you interupt the animation after you insert a fresh mag you will continue your "next" reload from pulling back the bolt, try to reload while having 1 round left in the gun to save time

Okey yea, it just feels bad/broken and it shouldn't be a thing in a game like this imo.

Honestly the worst part is not walking slower, it is not it taking longer to reload on empty, or even the animations that make you sit still. Those are all honestly presented.

Oh no. It is the curse of "The animation team and the 'balance' team did not agree". Where you finish the reload animation and start trying to do other actions, but OOPS sorry, the balance team decided there needed to be another 0.6 seconds after you finished reloading your gun before it actually counts as reloaded.

So you feel like you are playing on a laggy counterstrike server instead of """challenged by immersive reloading mechanics""".

Once I started I planning my reload times around jank instead of drinking the "Tactical realistic military gameplay honest" cult kool-aid, it got a lot easier to deal with. Admit it is poorly polished, and you will play better. Fall for people telling you "Nuh uh it is a satisfying skill mechanic!" and you will actually get worse at managing reloads instead.
