You're not wrong that it's hard to see, but the sound the gun makes is the most obvious cue at the moment.
Only used it the once, but I think the gun ends up with steam coming off of it like the railgun.
I hope they add an indicator in first-person view though at the very least. You can sorta tell by the noise of the firing how close you are to overheating from what I recall, too.
Though lasers need a buff regardless of overheating UI issues.
This weapon is not very satisfying, use it on your own risk!
It also starts smoking as it goes into overheat and the icon by your ammo counter turns red
Its an OK weapon...its biggest drawback is the lack of stagger on enemies, you will get cut to ribbons by robots whereas any bullet weapon will stagger them.
Not only would I like some kind of visual cue for the rail and lasers, I would be really thankful if the anti material rifle got a hipfire indicator like the autocannon. It's the only gun in the game you can't see where you're shooting it unless you scope in.... like, can we just not have this be a thing? Some of us don't WANT to play a FPS
