Oh gotta love that.
As a new player the Mortar has caused me so much grief, it's unbelievable. This thing will teamkill people as far as 20 feet away from itself. You literally have to stay on top of it while it works otherwise you are getting TKed.
Ya, not a world where you have enough AT to keep that thing up and running. No way you could take down 4-10 chargers fast enough.
When the game becomes the Heavy Armor game. Ya, anything that doesn't pierce armor IS bad.
When you have 2 Bile Titans, and 6+ Chargers coming down on you. The least of my worries are some squishy ass bugs that I can kill easily with my primary.
so for an evac mission I carry Mortar, HMG, Railgun n 500kg.
For bugs its meh, good for lower levels with little armor bad for 6+.
HMG can kill a bile titan by shooting it in the face and kill chargers by ricocheting the shot from the back leg into the butt. Those are the only two enemies you have to shoot in a specific spot, everyone else is just giblets.
Bots - S Tier
Bugs - B Tier
You sure its S Tier against bots? At what difficulty?
1. You're likely to have the 100% deployment time on higher difficulties, so it gonna take a hot minute assuming you don't have the last module. Getting pushed out of an area within that time seems likely
2. Wouldn't any missile, cannon, or ranged hulk instantly bust an HMG? Especially considering that any that would insta-bust a HMG, would instantly target it the second it touches ground.
If you are going into a heavy factory take out the cannons first with whatever you got, find a good spot and call down the hmg and kill da bots, game done.
average diff I play is 6, I've played on diff8 but the HMG doesn't stand because you deal with multiple tank drops on every obj.
EDIT: also go on the first page of this discussion, Horst posted a vid of them using a HMG on Diff 9 for the bots. you can see how effective it is for yourself there.
1. If you're killing the cannons, you might as well just have an airstrike and take out the base.
2. There isn't really holding any ground in this game once you reach Suicide (The difficulty I play). You get pushed by chainsaws/missiles/tanks/hulks constantly. You essentially run around and throw pot shots at stuff while avoiding all the enemy. HMG just isn't mobile, which is required at the higher difficulties.
3. Ya, his video is a friggn defense. A 5 year old could complete a Helldiver difficulty defense at level 1 lol. Now show me the HMG in action at a 9 difficulty without it being defense. And have it be the whole mission, not just some niche clip where the stars aligned.
if i could upgrade the ammo on it, i'd use it more.
Atm it has less impact than turret because of that limitation.
