Anyone remember what game releases were like 20 years ago?
How is this pre-alpha released at full triple A pricing? A handful of copy paste asset maps, one objective that requires a mortal kombat like finisher button sequence to complete, and roughly 5 different enemies (of each of the 2 factions) on repeat waves. How is this in any way shape or form worth a $50+ price tag? There is no campaign to speak of, no pvp, and the pve content is so bare-bones it makes mobile games look like an elder scrolls title. Save your trolling because there is nothing that can be said to justify this level of laziness.

Oh and did I mention this game has no online mode whatsoever... You literally cannot play online unless you have someone who directly invites you. This is a single player game with 4 maps of copy paste assets with wave enemies that don't differ in the slightest. A slogging grind for minimalist upgrades that in truth you don't need. What in the hell has happened to quality checks.. To think of all the scrutiny game developers had to go through in the 80s, 90s and 00's only for these highschool garage developers to be making bank over tiktok meme advertisement. GTA5 released for $10 more than HellDivers 2. How in the hell can anyone justify... It's not even about the price. There is NOTHING to do in this pre-alpha combat test.

And now I'm stuck with it because I decided to give the game a chance and put more than just 2 hours into it. I figured something would eventually open up as I got passed the beginning missions... Only to realize (too late) that I had beaten the game 10 minutes into it.

To all those still on the fence on whether or not to pick this up, don't. Not now, not on a sale, not ever. This "developer" needs to fade out. If you know someone who wants to get it despite your warnings, well, try before you buy.

1976 was 20 years ago and games didn't exist back then, is this guy delusional or something?

Ooooh, so you managed to hack the dev's server and changed all enemy factions to destroyed?

2004 huh...

That was the year Half Life 2 released right? Also Halo 2.

But it was also when we were knee deep in the EA sports game spam, so honestly the more things change the more they stay the same imo.

Out of curiosity I had to see what came out 20 years ago, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, 2004 was an insane year for gaming, I must have been very busy.

- World of Warcraft
- Halo 2
- Half-life 2
- Metal Gear Solid 3
- Rome Total War
- Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
- Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2
- Unreal Tournament 2004
- GTA San Andreas
- Ninja Gaiden
- Burnout 3 Takedown

OP is right that games are releasing with far more issues than they used to, so he knew that he should never buy a modern game on launch but did so anyway like a noob. I bought this game last night, haven't had a single issue with performance or servers.

You know what also came out in 2004...

Imagine buying a game without:
* Reading the store page
* Watching any trailers or gameplay
* Reading/watching any reviews

And then being dumb enough to play the game for more than 2 hours thinking "I'm sure there is some super secret content about to appear any minute now!!!".

I can promise not a single game on that list released without bug or issue.

World of Warcraft for example was literally unplayble for at least the first 2 weeks it was out with constant rubber-banding and rollbacks that could reset your character back several hours of play time. Not to mention missing around 40% of the content it promised to have done at release like battlegrounds, pvp system and several dungeons and raids most of which ended up just being abandoned. The only actual raid instance was locked behind attunements that took weeks to complete because it wasn't done either and even when people got into it a month later it still wasn't finished to the point they made the first mobs you encounter literally just 1 shot players for 32k damage to stop them from going deeper.

Halo 2 had serious server issues and stability problems on release as did Halo 1 before it.

I am sure the rest of the list is the same although most I did not play on release so I don't have firsthand knowledge outside of my first two examples.

This game isn't full triple A pricing though?

Full triple A pricing is like £60-£70.

What the ♥♥♥♥ are you rambling about?

Someone asked me to buy it to play with them. If it wasn't for them I would never have even considered it. I'm not blaming them, I'm just shocked that this is considered a full game.

It's not.

It's considered a live-service game that will continue to have content added for the next few years.

Game releases 30 years ago where just as bug filled only you had to pay $20 for the expansion pack 1-2 years later to fix some problems then wait for the community patches lol
The "day 1 patch" used to be unheard of.
Sure you could play right away because games had to work on the launch disc but there were no fast updates and almost zero dev feed back.
Today things are flipped around...you get year 1 patches because everything is thrown out the door to meet deadlines and the community is locked out via "live service" DRM haha
One step forward, one step backward, round and round we go. :evadebullets:

The author is right, this game is bare bones, even if you put all tech issues away - it's not worth the price. Unfinished games do not surprise me anymore, only people that protect them

Games not $50, exaggeration does not bode well in your "constructive" whine post.

If you bought it to play with a friend, I'm sure you'll have realised how AWFUL and TERRIBLE this game was for you within the refund time and refunded it, you'd have made an additional $10 from the sounds of your post! Profit!

Go play Skull & Bones, think you're more of a AAAA guy.

Since you seem to be a little slow I guess i will have to break it down for you. Yes literally everything you said is objective wrong and factually inaccurate.

Lets start with this.

Again you have no idea what pre-alpha games are and this game does not qualify as such. It is feature complete, functional and polished. Outside of some minor bug fixes and crashes this is literally what a full release game is. Your ignorance is palpable.

This is not AAA pricing. The game is $40 on steam. Even if you try to lie about the price that doesn't change facts. This is an indie studio and $40 is considered quite budgetable. For example AAA games are usually twice that price or more.

You sound like you are talking about the tutorial There are dozens of planets with varying terrain and weather patterns. There are also far more than 5 different enemies on each side. You would know that if you ever played the actual game. New enemies are locked behind difficulty levels.

There absolutely is a campaign. The campaign is the missions given to you by super earth directing you to fight on planets to push the overall war effort. This might not be a single player story that holds your hand but this is a multiplayer game by design. No pvp is a design choice and they never said they would have it. Not every game needs pvp. The PVE content is quite vast, dynamic and challenging which you would know if you ever got past the tutorial.

Not only is there an online mode that is literally how you play the game. Over 400k concurrent players daily prove that to be true. While some server interruptions have occurred online play with friends and even randoms absolutely does work. It is objectively not a single player game and it has far more than 4 maps lol. If you don't have friends to play with I think we can all see why. So again to my initial statement you have no idea what you are talking about and are objectively wrong on every point.

What opens up is the harder difficulties. However I think we all have doubts you ever even earned your cape. You absolutely have not beaten the game and its highly doubtful you even beat the tutorial.

That being said feel free to Tweet directly at the CEO your issues and I am sure he will give you a refund. He seems like a pretty chill dude and you seem like the type of person who uses twitter.
