I hope Weapon Upgrades return
I think it'll help bridge some of the gap on weapon balance. HD1 had you upgrading weapons, like adding weapon/heat capacity and damage and so on. It'd be nice to spend a little bit of sample currency on them to get little bonuses to a specific weapon. Honestly? Same for the calldowns. HD1 had that too. While HD2 has 'blanket' buffs to calldowns "10% X to all sentries" the original focused on upgrading a specific calldown. It'd be nice to see you being able to favour a weapon or calldown.

My only thought is that the current game is the first step in itself. Not being positive or negative, just they don't know where this game is going yet and they're suffering from server issues. We'll see where this game goes in future.

Given how worthless the weapons feel. It seems like they would be upgraded to be better. Really hoping the weapons across the board get a buff or maybe an upgrade system.

Yeah. There was a twitter reply from the head of Arrowhead to that effect. Someone was asking about a roadmap. They were so concerned with the immediate network issues that they wouldn't even address what the next steps are.

Honestly this has me wondering, what is the gap in time from the first game? A good number of people told me it's been about 100 years, but I genuinely don't know if that's true. If it is, I kinda figured tech and weapons would have advanced or been upgraded by then. But we still have the same stuff, and it's objectively weaker?

i also agree, some of the enemies can feel just a tad bit to tanky (berserkers are the mian one that come to mind) and samples feel kind of pointless untill you get a bunch which can take a while and the results might not even be good for your playstyle

After we won the galactic war on the first game, we ushered in an era of super peace for the next 100 years. As you know, when there's no conflict we tend to grow complement and that explains why our weapons are crap.

That makes sense, thank you!

Now is this planned or headcannon?
