Laser Cannon's Targeting off Center?
Gave it a try, thinking it would a be an interesting weapon, but it feels terrible to aim. It seems like the beam hits to the left of the cross hair, and you don't get any hit markers. Is it bugged or am I missing something?

Hit markers for laser weapons would indeed be nice.

And I understood that they were supposed to (slowly) ablate armor away now. They are pretty trash otherwise.

Probably an unfortunate consequence of third-person aiming. I've been using since release and they're still my favorite weapon, but I'm playing on controller which has a secondary reticle showing where you'll hit as opposed to the primary reticle showing where you're aiming.

I'm pretty sure that on Kb/m you're expected to aim in first person, which is accurate as far as I can tell.

I keep forgetting I can use 1st person aim with all the weapons. I only every use that for the sniper rifles.

Maybe I'll try that more, see if it helps.

That would be awesome if laser weapons burnt away armor.

I noticed there are ship upgrades that claim to improve accuracy.

The laser cannon does melt medium armor. Not Chargers' heavy armor though.

I mean charger armor lol. Even if it was slow burn

Yeah I got you. Unfortunately that means I rather use the railgun than the laser cannon in suicide missions against the bugs even though I love the sound effect.

Same. It is so satisfying.

The beam goes where the circle is, not the crosshair. It's one of the few weapons with restricted traverse speed.

I haven't noticed the aim being off, but then again I usually hip fire it and use the beam itself to aim unless the target is a mile off.

I've noticed the Las Cannon is unusually difficult to aim no matter what stance you take, and it always recoils up and left every time for me. Not sure why. Early in the game, namely before the first patch for the game, it was pretty controllable even while standing but after that patch, it kept kicking in that weird direction.

Isn't that related with how different planets have different temperatures, affecting heat, recoil and fire rate of weapons?

Hot areas eat up so much heat for laser weapons.

Holy cow, that's a thing?!

Yep, thought nothing of it the first few games on a desert planet until I got onto a frozen planet and it sensibly changed the handling and output of my laser cannon.

Remember to check the specific conditions for each planet.
