"Reduced recoil when crouching or prone" stat
I see this on quite a few pieces of armor, but I'm unsure how useful this stat is. I rarely see people firing in prone or crouched positions, and I certainly rarely remember to do so myself. But am I missing something? All I can think of is that once you get the railgun, this might become a significant advantage. Any thoughts? Thanks!

As someone that enjoys the hell out of the Stalwart, I have noticed this effect in action on rapid fire weapons. When crouched while wearing these kinds of armors, the Stalwart becomes a laser beam of bullets.
On bugs, this isn't all that useful. There's an argument for the autocannon (crouch-sliding into making 3-4 shots with the AC from crouch *is* much easier to hit charger butts and to hit 2 shots on broods and biles). Course, your primary also matters, but not much.

On Bots, it's a different story. The laser cannon benefits immensely, despite that not making all that much sense, because the recoil reduction seems to also apply to sway. Also, basically any primary weapon that is good there has recoil, and you'll often be firing from some distance away, and tapping crouch or prone reduces your profile and explosive damage you take. So, on bots, I would say it's a useful passive.

Most of the passives are pretty mediocre, none of them really permit new playstyles, except for +stims and +duration (flame and gas-walking) and of course the infiltrator armors.

Usually, the recoil reduction while prone is stapled to some other passive as well, like explosive resist or the grenade buff, both of which influence your loadout much more than the recoil.

Do I have to put LGBTQ in the title to get any responses?

Bro, you literally commented this 6 minutes after you created the post. Calm down, lol. Like go read a book or something and come back.
I run the Dominator and those armors. When crouched I can just fire the Domi as fast as I can. It has ♥♥♥♥♥♥ to the point where I just automatically crouch any time I want to shoot.
The stat is as useless as it seems.

the description is a misnomer. It actually applies all the time. It basically makes you one step less recoiled - standing is like crouching, crouching is now like prone, and prone is super-prone. It really depends on the player and the weapon. I use it if I'm using an autocannon or the medium machine gun. Crouching with that armor and an autocannon I can basically snap shot twice to kill a bile spewer with a pair of headshots.

But most people are terrible and want to run around with the sexy anti-tank weapons while they get swarmed by trash and medium size armored enemies while they're hoping to get one more charger kill. So you don't see it a lot in the wild.
30% crouched.
Additional 30% prone.
Armor 30%.

They stack.

Tested a long time ago.
Cashcrop_ has a youtube video that rigorously tests and breaks down all of the armor passives including recoil.
i mean i use it all the time, i dont need it but its nice to have im always crouching anyways for better accuracy
I do! I pretty frequently crouch, mostly for long or mid-range shots. I have a precision-shooting kind of playstyle. I don't use the crouch aid, though, I generally use Democracy Protects armor
It's barely noticeable, and shooting from prone is something you will almost never do because the camera angle is useless and you can't look up past a certain height for the purposes of throwing. You want to lay on the edge of a crater and shoot out of it? No shot, lol. You're also more likely to get headshot while crouching, since your head is now the entire target for oncoming enemies.

The only time you will ever viably prone shoot is while jumping after a hunter slaps you to get it off you, or maybe a few opening shots if you actually have an overlook on an objective, which is extremely rare.

edit:
had to edit this as I STUPIDLY wrote "crouch" instead of prone, or laying down. This was about shooting while prone, which almost never happens. Dyslexia moment, perhaps. You do crouch-fire quite often. You nearly *never* fire while prone.

If you go prone wearing engineer armour firing an autocannon, you can rapid fire some devastatingly accurate democracy right there, especially paired with 6 stun grenades to make 'em all sitting ducks.
Now to just get a squadmate to reload for me...
It's very noticeable on something like Heavy MachineGun since that thing kicks like a mule
The accuracy and recoil effectively becomes
Standing --> Crouching
Crouching --> Prone
Prone --> Even lower recoil than prone
Conditional. I sometimes try to 7-shot a bot turret from afar with an AMR, before it turns the weakspot away. This can be challenging without recoil control but with that armor + prone even a baby can make the shots.
