Not true at all actually. You can get Frame Generation in any game now with an app. Check it out:

i tried that software in helldivers and it doesn't feel like true 144hz and also adds stutter...

Lossless Scaling is pretty good, but doesn't really work that well for these kinds of games, I find it adds some latency, and tends to break g-sync/freesync, which makes the whole experience much worse. I get more artifacts than when using in-game scaling, which is expected. It's not frame-generation either.

It works absolute wonders for 2D games though, definitely worth checking out!

Well yeah, it isn't going to be true frames. It's interpolating the frames to create fluid motion, which is where the extra latency comes from. If you run the game at a true 60FPS, frame gen can double that and get you 120FPS, but you're going to have the latency of 60FPS. Those doubled frames create fluidity, and they're not attached to your input.

It's actually not that bad. I've tried it in multiple games and it's easy to get used to. I find the extra frames and being able to track things better far outweighs the latency hit.

Oooh I tell a lie, they've added frame-gen now O.O interesting.. Will need to check that out, but doubt I'll be using this for HD2 anytime soon, due to the other issues.

Yeah I don't even use the scalers in it. They have a bunch, FSR, etc. I literally only use frame gen in it and it works as advertised. It all depends on what you're looking for though, and what you're willing to sacrifice in game. It's worth it for me, but might not be for others.

Yup, DLSS or/and FSR2 would be nice to have. Current scaling options are bad.

Better optimization before having to add bs upscaling and fake frames generation imo...

DLSS and FG are literally just ways around awful coding and optimisations 🤣
For those using AMD gpus : https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/dh3-040

Hundred times better than FSR.

Just tested the frame-gen. TBH I can't spot a different, but only tested on my ship where I'm at ~100FPS anyway. I gave G-Sync enabled, which makes anything above ~70fps feel super fluid anyway, maybe that plays a part here. The input latency isn't as bad as I thought it would be, I think it would still get on my nerves, but I'd deffo re-consider this if I didn';t have g-sync and/or was at low FPS to begin with.

Gonna see hwo it goes in a mission, after yesterdays update I sometimes drop to 40s.

I agree we need dlss added, worst optimized game I own, only game I have to kick down to 1080 and still cant get 60fps its wack

The program listed here is a joke compared to dlss and frame generation from nvidia, i tried frame gen in other games and it looks and feels as good as native 144fps, so anyone saying "fake frames" is probably a jealous ignorant that never tried the real frame generation in one rtx 40 series card.

If you have certain amd graphics cards you can use RSR which is built in to the graphics card, its basically FSR 1
