Low FPS Issue - Need Help
Hi!
First, my problem then my specs.

Problem:
The usual low FPS issue. 30-40 FPS no matter the settings. Drivers are updated and everythibg else on my pc is shut down - set the priority for Helldivers to be high on task manager and still no change.

Specs:
AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF slightly overclocked.
AMD RX480 8gb
Asrock B450 Steel Legend
16GB 3600 Speed XMP enabled RAM

Previous experience:
I’ve run games like Star Wats Battlefront 2 on max settings with 0 issues, Apex, RDR 2, and almost every other major game you can think of. Even if a game has had low fps on my pc, lowering the graphics has always helped, unlike with Helldivers.

Very strange issue, plus the additional anti-cheat that has been set to low priority in my task manager.

No recourses are used at 100%, making it even stranger.

Hello, I'd like to post this to anyone having issues currently with FPS and they were running it totally fine days before.

For reference, my rig is
GeForce 4080
I7 13700K
32 gb RAM

Only 1080p at 144 hz.

I was running 300 FPS uncapped easily days before, and today I could barely break 140. I tried lower graphics, verifying files, etc. but nothing worked.

Instead, I deleted the entire Game guard folder in the game files.

Lo and behold my FPS was fine after.

For those who want to try this:

Program files>Steam>steam apps>Common>Helldivers 2>bin

Delete the whole folder "GAME GUARD" and relaunch the game. It will automatically redownload their terrible anti cheat.

I don't know why this works, but it worked for me. I also cannot guarantee it will work for anyone, but if it does; I hope I saved you a headache.
I tried and got stable 50 fps lol, it got better, however...

Lol, that helped me as well!

70-80fps ultra and i ran afmf just for extra fps

I Have exactly the same setup, with the difference of RX 6800 XT - and i booted the game only to have FPS drop to 15, unplayable.

Never had issues with new games, first time it has happened. From The Finals to Read Dead, Forza 5, Total War Warhammer, Control and many more.

I wouldn’t be surprised if that wasn’t the case. It might be old, but games run 100% of the time and not on low settings just to mention that - high or medium

New?

At this point I'm unfollowing the thread. CPU usage and performance issues have been reported countless time in their Discord and the devs are already looking for fixes and ways to improve the performance. If people want to keep arguing about it like headless chickens I'm out. :steamfacepalm:

I have heard forcing DX11 seems to help with AMD GPU cards. Remove the shaders file in the appdata/roaming/arrowhead folder and use "--use-d3d11" in the steam launch options.

I upgrade my cpu from 5600x yesterday to 7800x3D paired with my 3080 at 1440p 165hz. Ultra/high/native settings, All my fps issues are gone and I can actually enjoy playing the game now. Its feels like butter even fighting the robots. Getting around a consistent 110-140s give or take.

ryzen 1600 is really slow (like intel 4th gen) so there is no way you are getting more fps with this cpu

So your mid range GPU from 2016 plays 8th gen games fine, but not 9th gen? I don't see the issue. The game is also very CPU intensive. My 4070 is being bottlenecked by a 5800x3d at 1440p, I don't imagine a 6 core Zen+ CPU would fair all that well.

32 gb, ddr4, 3060, r7 5800x, m2 and SATA. Still got 45-50 drops sometimes even if GPU is under 80% load and CPU is under 60% load

The game is cpu limited. Even my 4070 is bottlenecked by a 5800x3d at 1440p. 60% usage is more than you think most games aren't optimized for multithreading, meaning you'll never use 100%, but you're still using all those cores. As a result of simulating all these physics, the game is very heavy on the cpu.
SchroedingersNoob Mar 10, 2024 @ 1:47pm
go to library, right click the game, go to properties, launch options
paste:

--use-d3d11

start the game. You welcome.

Ryzen 3900x with 7900xtx. no bottlenecks, 120+ frames. 100% gpu usage.
