Low FPS Issue - Need Help
Hi!
First, my problem then my specs.

Problem:
The usual low FPS issue. 30-40 FPS no matter the settings. Drivers are updated and everythibg else on my pc is shut down - set the priority for Helldivers to be high on task manager and still no change.

Specs:
AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF slightly overclocked.
AMD RX480 8gb
Asrock B450 Steel Legend
16GB 3600 Speed XMP enabled RAM

Previous experience:
I’ve run games like Star Wats Battlefront 2 on max settings with 0 issues, Apex, RDR 2, and almost every other major game you can think of. Even if a game has had low fps on my pc, lowering the graphics has always helped, unlike with Helldivers.

Very strange issue, plus the additional anti-cheat that has been set to low priority in my task manager.

No recourses are used at 100%, making it even stranger.

Holy… thats insane. If the other ppl are right, me and you shouldn’t be getting the same fps - I should be getting way less or you way more

Oh right, also forgot to mention for you Cawa, but Helldivers 2 also has some strange issues with performance and stability for AMD GPUs, though it seems to be intermittent who is effected by it.

Saving Civs mission reduces fps to low 40's

5600x, 3080 10gb, 32gb ddr4, 1440p 165hz

Doing this mission isn't just a fight against the AI, its a fight running the game itself while trying to play. Which leads to mission failure on my end cause its chugging and hindering my performance.

- Putting settings all the way from low to med/ultra doesn't really help performance. Even putting the scaling to ultra/performance the fps is terrible and constantly pretty much below 60 at all times with nothing but discord open. Its tough cause my game looks like a psp game while the fidelity is this low, and the framerate is not smooth consistently.

- I also tried the set to high priority, set affinity by trying each CPU 0-5 for my specific cpu (I found If I disable cpu 5, my performance feels a tad bit smoother, but doesn't stop the game from dropping to the usual low fps.)

Forgot to mention i've played on 1080p and have gpu load 30-50-98 depends on settings (do not affect on fps), also cpu have 70-80 load. Btw my ram takes ~5-7 gb. Also i noticed hard fps drop when i connect to other people. Its rly insane.

If your GPU load changes, but frame rate stays the same, you're probably CPU bound

Right, and the issue being discussed here is the game isn't properly utilizing hardware, or is at least doing it inefficiently. It's sloppy code and likely the anticheat hogging CPU utilization with all the memory checks it does over and over. They're using an engine that was discontinued in 2018 that they had to slap together to function to meet the culture of what is "next gen".

People need to ease up on just blaming hardware lazily. Not saying you are, but.
I noticed autonomons maps is where I got the worst FPS ever. Sometime lower than 30 FPS in a RTX 2080 Super.

The bugs maps FPS is generally 40-50 FPS constant with high 65.

My CPU is under 20% load and my GPU under 75% load.

Your GPU was released 8 years ago your CPU 5 years ago. You can compare phones from 8 years ago to phones today. Unfortunately It's a title that isn't easy to drive especially for in comparison underpowered hardware. Furthermore AMD GPUs seem to struggle even more on this game. I think you should have saved the money for the game and put it towards a new RIG. Can't imagine satisfactory gameplay unless for older titles and indie games.

Hello, I'd like to post this to anyone having issues currently with FPS and they were running it totally fine days before.

For reference, my rig is
GeForce 4080
I7 13700K
32 gb RAM

Only 1080p at 144 hz.

I was running 300 FPS uncapped easily days before, and today I could barely break 140. I tried lower graphics, verifying files, etc. but nothing worked.

Instead, I deleted the entire Game guard folder in the game files.

Lo and behold my FPS was fine after.

For those who want to try this:

Program files>Steam>steam apps>Common>Helldivers 2>bin

Delete the whole folder "GAME GUARD" and relaunch the game. It will automatically redownload their terrible anti cheat.

I don't know why this works, but it worked for me. I also cannot guarantee it will work for anyone, but if it does; I hope I saved you a headache.

I've got a 5800x paired with a rtx4070ti I get 120 I locked it to 80 cause when hordes spawn, explosions happening it's dropping anyway. You must have some other issue with your system if you're getting 40fps.

I had terrible fps also when I started to play, even with low settings and upscales. Then I changed from windowed to fullscreen and boom the game runs perfectly now and I run native without any upscales :-) This is with AMD gpu

Ryzen 1000 and 2000 series CPU chips are great if the game is heavily optimized for hyper threaded performance. However, it fails single threaded performance.

Assuming this is a desktop, I'd recommend either getting a second hand Ryzen 3000 or 5000 series chips. They even go cheap new. That'll give you a significant boost.
