43 thousand helldivers gave their lives to ensure Democracies Purity, Soldier. That's what you missed.

Also it might not be a blackhole.

Definitely a black hole, but definitely also a door for those who don't share the idea of democracy

that had to be the most unimaginative animation for a planet changing into a black hole ever made.

You missed another generic defense mission.

We blew it up :) Made room for a new intergalactic shopping mall.

Meridia became a super colony. Naturally we removed it with the use of alien tech that we totally fully understand.

Well I've heard some people say the planet of Meridia was actually Uranus (but I don't believe that since Uranus is not a planet) and it got infected by all kinds of nasty bug stuff, so we had to drill deep holes into it with our long drills filled with Dark Fluid that we injected into the core once the drills had penetrated deep enough; we had to do that three times, which was pretty tough especially when you turned the difficulty up. Meridia got really dense after that and then turned into a dark hole. (something to do with dark matter (which is heavy I suppose?) aka "dark fluid"; so is the perception I think).

We exterminated the bugs. By using a "completely save and understood" alien technology that blew up the planet and let it collapse into a black hole. You know just a regular tuesday for us

The great bug spam of meridia

It might not actually be a black hole.
(Note that the following could be artistic license or simply dev mistakes, or a hint that things aren't what they seem)
1. The "black hole" is way too big for the mass of the planet. A black hole with approximately Earth's mass would have a Schwarzschild radius of about 10 milimeters (the distance from the singularity to the event horizon, or the "inner radius" of the black hole).
2. No gravitational lensing. When looking past a black hole near its event horizon, the stars in the background should be heavily distorted as gravity bends light around it. We don't see that on Meridia.
3. No accretion disk. With all the dust and spores being sucked in, we should see a large accretion disk around the black hole, but we don't.
4. Wrong color. The "aura" around the black hole is purple, which doesn't make sense. Things being sucked in should heat up from friction, and should red-shift due to gravity.
5. No tidal forces. With how close our ships are to the black hole, they should experience extreme stress and potentially be torn apart by tidal forces, but we seem to be able to stay at that distance perpetually.
6. No time dilation. This would admittedly be impossible to simulate for just the people near Meridia, but the stuff falling in doesn't appear affected by time dilation either.

On a side note, because we have FTL ships, black holes are less scary in this universe than in reality. If you can travel faster than light, then you can escape a black hole's event horizon.

It wasn't a defense mission. It was a unique mission to inject dark fluid into Meridia to destroy the super colony... the dark fluid jump packs were quite fun as well.
