This, also not all guns have flashlights under barrel
"All it does is blind your teammates." awesome
Yeah I swear they bugged the lighting in one of the first patches. It wasn't like that when the game first released.
Now, on planets with fog or particle effects, having the torch on and firing the gun makes an almost pure white circle in the middle of the screen, especially with fast firing guns like the stalwart, making it actually impossible to see lol.
So i usually turn the torch off, and only host daytime missions lol.
Hold R (reload) and
-Mouse wheel down to change light (on/off/auto)
-Mouse wheel up to change scope magnification
-Mouse click right to change fire mode (single/burst/auto/save/unsave)
Onbviously, not all weapons have all options
Its likely I'm resorting to my pistol if I've already used the clip on my support weapon or my primary.
That's why there's little to no downside to doing so.
Though that being said, yeah-- there are some maps where it's dark as a starless, moonless night and the flashlight is a welcome tool to navigate through pitch black ravines-- so there seems to be a use for them.
I think you just have your brightness turned too high. Which isn't weird, a lot of people turn it up to play better but it makes the flashlight a huge hindrance, especially in fog. Same reason I used to have to shoot out every lamppost in an area to avoid a huge glare and actually see.
Once I went back and cut the brightness, it's a lot better.
