Unpopular Opinion: Flamethrower does more harm than good
I've noticed the Flamethrower has almost as high a tk average as the mortar sentry . Seems every time I'm in a match with a flamethrower user they soak the team with FF. Three matches today , all high levels that should know better, each time the match is over the guy with the FT has like 7 accidentals, everyone else has like 1 .

So I gatta ask , ya'll doing it on purpose or you just that negligent ? And no I'm not stepping in fire , I'm getting a shower of flame from behind.

Please show a tiny bit of concern for your fellow helldivers flamethrower mains. We love you but you're not making it easy .

It's actually good to have one on the Dark Fluid mission, since it can spread a lot of damage to bugs fast as they spawn on the drill. On normal missions I'm not convinced it's worth the potential for friendly fire. Although it's also fairly easy to avoid accidentals with a flamethrower so long as friendlies don't suddenly lurch into your line of fire (but that can be said with any weapon.)

I've noticed they love shooting it off around my ears...if they want to use it they should step up to the plate and take point because I will sidestep to get an angle.

Just do as they did in WW2 - don't be anywhere near the guy with the Flamethrower. This should be pretty obvious. All it takes is one hunter aim punching the guy and the fire goes in a (somewhat) random direction.

This . I'm pretty sure 100% of this issue would be resolved if flamer was on point.

It isn’t a problem if you know how and when to use it

Then everyone you know is bad with it, or are stupid around someone who has one.

On Hellmire, the flamethrower is the tk weapon of choice ;)

Literal skill issue what you're talking about.

You're the one with issues, not me.

Two things to watch for when a teammate has a flamethrower.

1- where are you? If you're running infront of the flame guy then you're out of position and your death is an accidental that can easily be avoided by steering clear.

2- where is the flame guy? If he is upfront, leave him be and let him have fun burning things. If he is behind you, there is a high chance he was slow to the fight and will probably kill you.

nah dude it's not on me to make sure dude doesn't burn me, it's on him not to melt his team mates. Imagine if the military was all like "yeah mow em down if they're in your way , they should totally know you're the main character here. Their fault."

Egg missions are very nice if someone has a Flamethrower.

I use the flame thrower nearly every bug match. I do not remember the last time I lit a helldiver on fire. Or be lit on fire by one for that matter.

This is explains why you get team killed enough to make a thread about it.
