The 305 Damage Long Ranged PLAS-101 Purifier We Should Have Gotten

This gun is such a disappointment. When I first saw it advertised, I was so excited to have a Railgun style primary, but in the state it's in, its a barely functional piece of trash, especially when considering that the Scorcher exists right next to it in style and design. I tried, so many times, on so many planets, to deliver justice and freedom to both bugs and bots, but democracy was consistently left undelivered in my attempts at finding a place for this gun in my loadouts. In my opinion, its such an obvious miss that its mind boggling that it hasn't received any changes since its launch.

Now, what I would suggest is that we look at two other guns that share a similar association that the Purifier shares with the Scorcher - the Dominator and the Eruptor. One is a semi-automatic, medium damage, medium magazine, medium range, DMR type, and the other is a bolt-action, high damage, low magazine, long range, sniper type. That follows a reasonable design flow. Now with the Scorcher and the Purifier, we have one being a semi-automatic, medium damage, medium magazine, medium range, DMR type, and the other is a slow charge-up, medium damage, medium magazine, medium range, sniper(?) type. This is not a reasonable design correlation, as the RPM and mobility cost to using the Purifier is significantly outweighed by the benefit of... wait is there a benefit? Oh yeah, its got medium armor penetration and 50 more damage I guess...

All I'm trying to say is that the ratio of DMR to sniper within weapon types exists in reasonable balance already. Rocket propelled ammo gets it done well enough with significantly higher damage and explosive rounds to make the Eruptor distinct from the Dominator. So just do the same with the Purifier. Quick math says that it's damage should be 305.45 to keep in line with the ratios of the Dominator/Eruptor. A quick look at the "oh I can't use this near enemies, its too slow" aspect of the Purifier says it was probably designed for longer ranges, but its got the same scope as its other plasma ammo counterpart. Unless it gets some kind of adjustments, it will never find its own place to be useful or unique. Its just not worth using.

I unlocked the Purifier recently and before the Scorcher which I unlocked today. Prior, I've been comparing it heavily to the plasma punisher otherwise. Been mainly fighting bugs recently.

It basically fires what the punisher does with some chargeup for more typical projectile ballistics. This means that it's meant for a range. As someone who enjoyed the plasma punisher and DMR roles, I actually loved how the Purifier was faring. It also felt like what the Eruptor in ways should have been. Continuing the punisher comparison, It has generously more ammo and functions more like a primary than a pseudo grenade-launcher.

Anyways, then I unlocked and used the Scorcher to compare it too; I heard great things about this, and it certainly is good... but I expected it to fire faster. Like it's still good, but people kept on talking about the Purifier as if it's trash when it's just a bit slower than the Scorcher for more powerful AoE shots. The Purifier is rightly already rather comparable.

At most I can see a bit of a charge-up speed buff for the Purifier, but I am currently loving it already. It does as I expect; it's like if I'm taking the plasma punisher or scorcher but for more of a ranged role, or even medium if I use the AoE well. I don't think it needs a sort of damage buff when it's mimicking the power of the punisher already. That said, the punisher got updated to be able to feel better to use and I can expect small adjustments like that for the purifier at most, i.e. a charge-up speed buff, but a bit and that's it. Also give me a proper scope with varying zoom and this will be a dream primary for me.

Well I tried it on bots and wish the whole time I had the Purifier. Like the Scorcher is nice but I have no idea why the ragging on the Purifier in comparison.
