So do SOS beacons not work?
What's up with this game sometimes? Now two times I have been in a mission I'm hosting and no one joins at all - Helldive difficulty. It's absolutely impossible and a waste of time when I try to solo them.

I use an SOS beacon, 20 minutes later and still no one has joined. Mission failed - all badge progress lost and mission failed.

This was well after Steam's maintenance today, but I've had it on other days last week and over the weekend too.

I've rage quitted again and probs the last time I'm opening it for a while.

I've removed my positive review too as it's pissed me off too many times now, not leaving a negative one either.

I've had them work once out of around 9-10 times I've done it. Who knows if they worked and no one joined or just don't work most of the time. Hard to keep track with the multitude of other things in this game that don't work.

Three times now I've had it not work at all, and I try to fight through a 40 minute helldive mission on my own. No matter what I try stealth or all guns blazing it's completely pointless and a frustrating waste of my time as I fail.

And what's more annoying is I loose my mission progress as well.

I hope they fix the SOS beacon and people not joining because it's so annoying. My internet connection was running fine as I monitor it for any ping drops.

I hope there is a patch or fix for it as I ain't launching the game again until then.

There is a wonderful little bug where you (as a host) sometimes just lose the ability to have other people join your game.
A common workaround for this is changing matchmaking to friends only and then back to public.... Then again, it might be a separate matchmaking bug, we seem to have a few.

You know, rather than the clever jokes on the mission load screens they should start putting tool tips on how to work around all the bugs and glitches in the game. Probably be easier for them than fixing the problems, which seems to elude them.

We should just get a C-01 form directed at ourselves as this is what I feel the current game status is.

Is your game set to friends only? Because SoS beacons don't break that anymore. You're not going to have randos join this way anymore.

It would honestly be kinda funny (and unironically good) if they found some way of writing in-universe guides for common issues and their workarounds.

No I have never set anything to friends only or private ever.

I rely on people joining to help as I cannot solo helldive missions. With a full lobby it's rarely an issue, but more and more recently this has been a problem.

what would be way funnier is if they just fixed the game

Huh? Wasn't the SOS Beacon asset created SPECIFICALLY for opening up a private game to the public get players to join? Not that I care much anymore, but what the F is the point of it then?

Your guess is as good as mine. It make zero sense. But I'm certain they did it because of "feedback from users", especially those who seem to be "so good" at the game that they commonly confuse it with the reinforce stratagem...

From what I've gathered so far (having initially forgotten to set mine to 'private' and accidentally called an SOS whilst playing with others who had, resulting in a random addition to my squad), SOS beacons simply trigger the constant 'ping' on other players' on-ship mission display for your active mission; it's up to them if they join or not. If you have your game set to 'private', your mission - let alone the 'ping' - is (I assume) not even shown as active on another player's OSMD at all, unless they are on your friends list. You can see 'public' missions as a 'private' player, but they cannot necessarily see yours.

Assuming I am in fact correct, SOS beacons work as intended; you just have the bad luck that nobody wants to join whatever bug-infested clusterfrak you've potentially gotten yourself into.

One dumb thing I was doing, was staying on a planet that was liberated. I was like "Wtf nobody is joining in the past 2 hrs?". Zoomed out and it was already liberated... face palm moment.

My guess? Nobody was on the planet anymore or SoS beacons weren't really doing sh*t because the planet was liberated already.

That's how it work right now but in the past it used to be priority chosen by quickplay and open to public as soon as you used it, even if you had set your game to private.

It also may be that not many Players play on that lvl anymore. I don't see the point personally. It's hard enough at 7 for me, and I have a chance to extract. I don't usually make it out on lvl 9.
