Is my PC bad or is the game poorly optimized?

I have an i5 9400f and a 1650 graphics card and the game, even when it is on low, is everything going wrong? what I do? Is it the game or my computer? thank you

Well, the i5 processor might be a problem since the minimum requirements list an i7.

Unlikely. game minimums is a 4th gen i7, an i5 9th gen exceeds that.

F means it has no onboard GPU... if he bought a separate GPU and swapped it in for the card there, I'm sure the game would run much better for him.

K means the CPU is overclock capable, since it's an "F" only, he can't overclock his CPU as suggested elsewhere... Overclocking also comes with its own problems... heat and stability to name a few...

The minimum spec is for a 4790k, which is a 4c/8t cpu, while OPs is a 6c/6c, and will be equally fast, if not faster, due to being a DDR4 platform and having higher per-core performance.

Kinda both. Your spec are near minimum requirements for this game, which publisher rates as playable at 1080p with 30 FPS with Low settings.

buy a 3060TI this card is still good for gaming

Pretty sure the "K" just denotes an unlocked CPU that can be overclocked and the "F" means it has no on-board GPU. If memory serves. But it is several generations behind.

I had to use -dx11 instead of --use-d3d11 as the latter command just opened up a black window with no full screen.

The game does need some optimisation.

I have a Ryzen 9 3900x and an RX 6950XT and in difficulty 7 bot missions I will go as low as 40 and very rarely higher than 60. I play on medium-high settings.

1650 is a little above min spec but you didn't mention RAM or Storage.
inb4 8GB RAM and a spinnind HDD.

I don't know.... I am still trying various settings atm. I can walk around the ship fine with no problem but missions just have me lagging constantly behind teammates with missing animations for my character, audio breakups. I have a 3060 TI, 32 GB of RAM, running the game on an SSD. Going to try medium settings and hope that alleviates some of the issues.

People have opinions. I got a NVIDIA GTX 1660 and AMD Ryzen 5 2600 and the game looks nice, barely lagging if at all. 100+ FPS (monitor can do more but framerate with 200+, I would need higher GPU and CPU)

Play with the lower fog settings and star skybox. I noticed these two were heavy hitters on me.

Was getting 30ish FPS, now at 75+ on a: RTX 3070 and Ryzen 7 3700.
