Let's Play!
For sentries, it's more about placement, try to go high so it shoots over their heads, or low where people won't be running. Doesn't really work for Mortars, just gotta hope they hear you call it out on mic that you've put one down so they'll run from enemies.
Otherwise, friendly fire happens. Try to leave the newer players behind and climb up the ranks and difficulties, and most people seem to be chill about accidental friendly fire.
If you throw down a 380 mm barrage during a defend objective people might think otherwise, of course. :P
There was a thread suggesting the ability to hit 5 to put the drone away and I honestly think of the ways to alleviate the problem, that would be the simplest and better option.
When I'm using a dog I do my best to not crossfire as well but sometimes the dog will just spin with the laser on and either headshot me or hit my friend.
I don't mind it being that stupid it's a drone. I do mind having zero control over it when it's a drone.
This is an absolutely idiotic thing to do on their part.
The proper response for most friendly fire is laughter, not apoplectic screaming.
PS; I never played the original, I have been Friendly Fired a few times. My main strat is to stay mobile and make sure to move away from stratagem drops. With turrets I tend to stay low and near them. If mortars on the field I move a lot and kill anything near me.
On the subject of Guard dogs, just spread out a bit more and ensure you're facing the enemy with nobody in front of you.
