About the automatons.

I have a theory. I think they are the remnants of the technology used by the cyborgs and some of them are even partly organic because they seem to exhibit pain (chainsaw boys.) When a patrol is left alone, a marching tune can be heard when far enough away and you don't disturb them and it just kind of fits, no?

Do you think the cyborgs just experimented too much and the machines took over?

I was thinking they were the Cyborgs just giving up on their humanity and going full machine do to survival from the Helldivers what every they are they really hate humans given how they decorate their bases with human limbs a lot can happen in 100years.
There's also a data pad that says we don't know who they are where they come from nor who makes them.

I've unfortunately been able to spend too much time reading the data pads due to zoomy teammates, but that's a good find!

My guess is they're autonomous weapons gone wild. AI too advanced that realised they're enslaved by their humans creator.

They're definitly made by humans, but good luck getting the super-earth to admit that its experiments have gone wrong.

On the other hand, no doubt the ministry of truth will blame the cyborgs for the automatons.

Well what are they are they really really don't like humans notice a some of their weapons are made to make as much pain as possible and they decorate their bases with human body parts so they have the emotions of hate.

That's definitely a theory, but super earth certainly doesn't seem advanced enough to develop a rogue ai though. We can't even train bombardier teams to land orbital strikes properly xD.

Saw a theory somewhere that they are essentially an autonomous army for the purpose of liberating the cyborgs held enslaved at Cyberstan, possibly by escaped cyborgs.

All I know is that they should've stuck with cyborgs. There's no reason for cyborgs not to have fully automated automata in their arsenal as well, but we won't be seeing any hound patrols or frankenmutants now.

I also found this it was a post a while back in Helldivers' Twitter and Facebook. It was all 0s and 1s.
So it looks like they are the Cyborgs or what's left of them after 100years of being in hiding.

Not necessary hate, self preservation would do it as well. The decorum would be here to strike the fear in the heart of their enemy.

Dunno if Warhammer and Terminator exist in the Helldivers universe, nevertheless humanoid robots leave little room for doubt as to their origin.
