Chargers are trash and way too OP
Whats the deal? lol

My friends and I will be only on challenging and will be contending with like 3 chargers at once. Forget any higher difficulty. Its absolutely insane how they take over the entire experience. Hard mode is a sh!tsh0w but not in a good way. The entire objective turns into fighting chargers.

But yeah, multiple at once, huge HP pool, heavy armor, specific weakpoints, it drains the enjoyment pretty quick.

Because shooting the backside of Chargers is not efficient unless its an Expendable Rocket or Assisted Rifle. The best way to kill them is to strip the armor on one of their legs - they drop very quickly without it.

pro tip just ignore them they are super easy to deal with if you only prioritize ones coming out of a breach or in an area you need to be at
Kanjejou Mar 1, 2024 @ 8:31am
Autocannon do not two shot charger in back leg... it break the legs but its still alive, bleeding but alive for a good minute still, AND IT CAN STILL CHARGE!!! You will need 2 extra shot to finish it.

the only weapons I saw two shot in back leg are EAT and Recoiless but it can also two tap them in the front leg so....

Honestly charger are a badly made monster:
-False weakspot! The ass is a trap
-Dying state but still able to charge run and kill...
-Multiple unlinked health bar (damages done to leg dont count with each other or the body)
-only die when a part is destroyed+some "extra damages"
-No bonus effect when breaking stuff... or its dead or its not, automaton can be disarmed with lesser guns...
-Janky hitbox
-Unrealiable trajectory, with hard turn with fizzle anymation
-Don't always hurt allies when charging
-Ignore most terrain feature, tall grass tree rocks mud water etc... dotn slow him down.
-Can climb cliff

I've had teammates strip armor, but even with their entire innards exposed from the side where their carapace used to be - they're still pretty spongy. I was honestly surprised to see a charger with its intestines basically falling out, still charging.

Wait until you've got 3 chargers and 3 stalkers.
You'll wish it was 6 chargers.

the backside of the charger is NOT their weakspot. Their butt just happens to have the lightest armor, you do not get a (or you get a very negligible) damage bonus for hitting it.

How does that make sense?
there's three different tiers of armor in hell divers, light, medium and heavy.

Most of the charger's body is heavy.
The very edges of its front legs(The outer edges towards its sides) and its back legs are Medium armor.
it's butt is light armor.

it's ACTUAL weak points are UNDERNEATH it's leg armor. If you strip off its front leg armor with expendable anti-tank, recoilless rifle, or a railgun, you can kill it in 1-2 shots on its now revealed weakspot with pretty much any weapon.
The recommended high level strat is to fire two shots of a railgun into a leg to break off the armor, and then dump a few shots of the breaker autoshotgun into it to down one in under five seconds.

Autocannons can work with some skill and luck(hope RNG doesnt screw your shot)
two shots to one of the back legs as it runs by you should kill it (autocannon pierces medium armor, while the above weapons pierce heavy)

The flamethrower is an unironically good weapon to use against chargers if you're not playing above difficulty 6. fire and electricity ignore armor. while it's not very fast at killing chargers, the flamethrower will do it much easier and more comfortably than you would ever expect(make sure to stim immediately once you set yourself on fire, armor with extra stims helps greatly) . this should take about 1 full fuel tank of flamethrower ammo.

Finally, if you have access to high level strategems, i've had great success with the orbital rail canon (Guaranteed nearly instant one shot kill), 500kg bomb (pretty much the same provided you don't whiff it), and the orbital laser (can kill multiple chargers over time).

Finally, helldivers is a hard game that expects you to approach it with some thought.
you are NOT meant to kill everything. you DO NOT GAIN ANYTHING for killing enemies.
Needlessly attacking groups of patrolling enemies will just make them aggro and likely call in reinforcements on you. Avoiding enemies through stealth is often times the best method. (Note, while the dog backpacks are great at clearing little guys, they WILL shoot and aggro enemies that you are trying to avoid. keep this in mind as you tackle higher difficulties). Remember, you are hell divers, you fight behind enemy lines and perform guerrilla warfare to accomplish the hardest war-critical missions against overwhelming odds. Your job isn't to kill all the bugs/bots. It's to do the difficult jobs that no one else can.

Actually the game is way easier when you have a squad that kills everything instead of only run and see the amount of enemies go up, up and up.

The point isn't that they're not easy to deal with. It's not that they're unkillable.

The point me and everybody else is making about chargers is that THEY ARE NOT FUN TO PLAY AGAINST, ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE'S MULTIPLE OF THEM FOCUSING ONE PERSON.

That's it. That's the point. It's not fun. Stop mistaking it not being fun with people struggling to deal with them. It's not the same at all.

IDK i thought it was badass when I was lining up multiple charger legs with my rail, or the fact i have been overrun multiple times just to use the chargers spam to deal with the hunters in the field. there was a time where me an a buddy with a ARC thrower bullied 3 chargers with chain lightning using them as a Tesla tower to deal with all the spam around them. with out changers it would be far to easy to hunker down in a postilion. Chargers occupy the same roll of team disruption as left 4 dead tanks but are far more manageable by one player unlike in l4d one player can "dance" with multiple changers while the team focus's on the horde. its more like Vermintide high rank where you get one guy looping monstrosities and the rest of the team keeps your monster killer safe from spam

They are pretty easy, its when theres lots of them it gets a bit hectic. Easiest way is to use something to blow the armour of a front leg, then hit it with primary weapon. Dead in no time

lmao anyone coming at me saying skill issue etc

Ive been gaming my entire life and im 34. Im not like new to gaming. I have like 40 hours in the game. We understand strategems.

The chargers need to be nerfed. In just challenging mode, the entire focus becomes on chargers even. Its not as fun. Medium is too easy, but more fun.

That last point is kind of my issue with chargers.

They become the sole focus of the team - because they are so incredibly overtuned.

On my last mission, we were hunting a bile titan. The titan went down fast, but then a pack of chargers tied us up and almost caused a wipe. Not the freaking BOSS, but rather the stupid pack of chargers that swarmed in a few seconds after the boss was gone.

I say make the legs medium armor, or make their backside an actual weakpoint.

This again is part of the issue. The Railgun right now is a must-have solely because of chargers.

If we want people to change up their loadouts, other guns need to be able to compete. So either make the backside an actual weakpoint, or make the legs entirely medium armor.

They're oppressive if kept unchecked but otherwise manageable with the right weapons and ordinances.

Like the training manual states. Higher difficulties expect harder enemies. Prepare accordingly.
all these words without giving any tips, useless bastard

2 Railgun shots to the leg strips the armor, then just unload half a mag into the leg and they’re dead.

Railgun, railgun, railgun, railgun, railgun.

Wonder why people don't switch up their loadouts?

I mean, you could switch out for the EAT-17, but then you’ll be screwed if more than 2 chargers are trying to kill you.

"The best weapon in the game, that kills all the things, also kills these things."

So yes, the other weapons in the railgun's category all need buffing, and until that happens Chargers are very overtuned.
