And no, you don't have to do whole operation in one sitting, as long as you will not start another one, the one you have going on will not expire.
Besides, if you quit mid operation (Not in the middle of a mission) you can close the game and start again to continue where you stopped. At least that's the case for me.
Maybe insecure people reminding me that my 20+ level is a measure of time instead of skill, are trying to deny other players access to impossible and helldiver unlocks, because they are embarrassed that lower level players are outperforming them with less equipment.
