Probably something for the devs to fix, but there might be some troubleshooting you could do. More details about your setup would avail others who wish to help you.
Crackling sounds might be latency. You could try running LatencyMon while experiencing the issue and seeing if anything jumps out at you.
No it's an Intel Nvidia system, i5 9300h 1660 Ti
I guess the numerous people that you can find with the issue by Googling or looking at the link i posted don't exist, weird
Jesus, people these days...
Sometimes peripherals move around (especially those at/where plug/unplug regularly) and I have experienced this with a faulty connection with a jack port in the past. Easy enough to try, worth a shot.
edit:
You know what? Screw you. You don't deserve my attention.
It causes crackling audio when DPC latency spikes with USB headsets and USB interfaces, depending on application. This is not an Arrowhead thing to fix. Nvidia have been trying for a dozen drvers and have not been able to snuff the problem out.
You're not using onboard audio if you have a USB headset, you're using USB emulated audio. What happens if you use the speakers? I'm guessing this is a laptop given the 9300h chip.
Definitely make sure your drivers are up to date as some improvements have been made. There's also a tool to monitor DPC latency that'll help you identify if that's the issue, called LatencyMon. But I bet my ass that'll be the case.
