just wonder why do people not play automaton than bug
automaton is more exciting and the music is more immersive though, i hate that stratagem countermeasure.
i can accept reduced one slot stratagem, but that countermeasure is so harassment

I am guessing a good portion of the player base have a thing for Starship Troopers.

Personally I prefer fighting bots over getting swamped by bugs.

Starship troopers is why...robots are just skynet fodder....but only good bugs are dead bugs 10/10 joke I know

Bugs are easier to deal with when your loadout options are limited, Bots I have an easier time pretending i'm a Flacid Serpent sneaking around them and stealing their samples and objective without them noticing.

It's just some references to Starship Troopers and Terminator.
bugs are easier, and can't randomly oneshot you across the map 24/7

Part of the reason is fighting the bots isn't fun to me. I was thinking that maybe fighting bots would lead to different responses seeing as they are harder to kill and have some insta kill low level enemies (rocket and the large turret on some bases).

But it felt that they could call as many reinforcements as the bugs and overwhelm me more readily since the also could shoot at range so i didn't only have to contend with those enemies close to me. The ECM jamming also is very frustrating; let me have fun using the stratagems that really appealed to playing a mass horde shooter.

To me allowing players to strategically take out the one unit in small bases, maybe two in large bases, who could potentially call in reinforcements and having more effective weapons to make that happen could make a completely different stealthy playstyle that may be more appealing. But patrols would have to be more limited in my mind or not always have that element of being overwhelmed with the constant barrage of lasers from the constant dropship reinforcements.

Of course this is my reason for wanting to fight bugs over bots

I also hope that future abilities may let us overcome/limit map effects or let us operate in a localized area (ie spores preventing radar might be able to use radar in a small local area around the player with certain upgrades or booster)

I absolutely hate the civvie evac missions and bot planets are filled with those, its why I sadly can't stomach playing defense even though I would like to help the war effort but my own fun takes priority here.

That's actually already exactly what you are supposed to do. The Comissar (the guy with one sword and a pistol) is the one who pop the flares the vast majority of the time. If you see a robot go for a flare you can destroy it and it will cancel it.

Destroying robots with my sniper on solo mission is what I used to like doing the most in easier difficulties. With the recon armor they also have a really hard time finding out where you are. It also seemed to me like if you headshot robots their friends have no clue where you are or from where you shot them.

I assumed automaton is little harder than bug, bug are easier and quick farming XP, credit, while automation gave harder time, I think both bug and automation's reward is same yet bug is easier and faster than automation and good for farming, but I could be wrong. Rare bug shoot range as well while automation is mostly range attack that can harm player much easier than bug do, all you do is run around like little girl and shoot bug, but automation can fight back because of range, plus there is one shot kill as well, Bug had one shot kill but that is for melee, not range, so it's easier to avoid that than automation do.

So that is my theory is why people prefer playing in bugs rather than automation, make easier to win. Old saying do not bring knife to gun, more or less (Unless it's superhero who are too fast for bullet to catch or bulletproof like superman (who can do both)

I was trying that with the diligence but it wasn't working out at all, it really was disappointing. I felt that the easiest weapon to survive was the breaker and then to use the grenade launcher; just another version of blitz with lasers shooting me

Bug runs are more fun.

Guess its easier... The weak points not being tiny as ♥♥♥♥ is kinda nice when you're dealing with a horde of enemies.

Personally I think bugs are way worse than bots.

Bugs are faster, have entirely too many attacks that slow you down, and just swarm you.

Bots come from the sky most of the time, so you can see them coming.
They tend to have big open bases that are easy to see and avoid.
They also don't tend to have horrible visibility.

Sure they have ranged attacks and hulks can be rough but I'd take them over bugs anyday.
