Personally I prefer fighting bots over getting swamped by bugs.
It's just some references to Starship Troopers and Terminator.
But it felt that they could call as many reinforcements as the bugs and overwhelm me more readily since the also could shoot at range so i didn't only have to contend with those enemies close to me. The ECM jamming also is very frustrating; let me have fun using the stratagems that really appealed to playing a mass horde shooter.
To me allowing players to strategically take out the one unit in small bases, maybe two in large bases, who could potentially call in reinforcements and having more effective weapons to make that happen could make a completely different stealthy playstyle that may be more appealing. But patrols would have to be more limited in my mind or not always have that element of being overwhelmed with the constant barrage of lasers from the constant dropship reinforcements.
Of course this is my reason for wanting to fight bugs over bots
I also hope that future abilities may let us overcome/limit map effects or let us operate in a localized area (ie spores preventing radar might be able to use radar in a small local area around the player with certain upgrades or booster)
Destroying robots with my sniper on solo mission is what I used to like doing the most in easier difficulties. With the recon armor they also have a really hard time finding out where you are. It also seemed to me like if you headshot robots their friends have no clue where you are or from where you shot them.
So that is my theory is why people prefer playing in bugs rather than automation, make easier to win. Old saying do not bring knife to gun, more or less (Unless it's superhero who are too fast for bullet to catch or bulletproof like superman (who can do both)
I was trying that with the diligence but it wasn't working out at all, it really was disappointing. I felt that the easiest weapon to survive was the breaker and then to use the grenade launcher; just another version of blitz with lasers shooting me
Guess its easier... The weak points not being tiny as ♥♥♥♥ is kinda nice when you're dealing with a horde of enemies.
Bugs are faster, have entirely too many attacks that slow you down, and just swarm you.
Bots come from the sky most of the time, so you can see them coming.
They tend to have big open bases that are easy to see and avoid.
They also don't tend to have horrible visibility.
Sure they have ranged attacks and hulks can be rough but I'd take them over bugs anyday.
