I like to go AM rifle with Jetpack. Pop up somewhere high to overwatch your team while they complete an objective, and you can easily cover them with snipes and stratagem calldowns.
It also completely befuddles enemies sometimes. You can lead a horde away from your team, jump to break LOS, and leave them lost somewhere else.
i'm sure the energy shield has its place at higher difficulties with broken armor, but 7 is very doable with a jetpack.
YOu can easily be hit and killed with a jetpack even mid flight and when you start an escape jump, the animation is slow enough for the bugs to oneshot you.
Shield can block melee too.
No, It's not. I experienced exact situation you two talking. Laser drone actually broke team's stealth by attacking patrol. patrol didn't notice us even right after drone's laser attacked it.
This. Tried the jetpack yesterday, clearly nerfed.
A shield is so much better, even tho less, much less flashy.
Ya, this isn't even uncommon. Very confusing that someone would argue against this.
or when you waste it in spots where you can climb normally with space,
or when you use it, but you land just after a ledge that drop, and then you break your leg because it did the little slowdown burst too early.
i really want to like the jump pack, but after using it for a while, it just gets too frustrating.
false, they let you be more aggressive. Saves you stims vs stalkers, and random bug pops.
To say it is a crutch is stupid. It lets you be aggressive. It helps with kiting, and saves you time.
Nothing beats it hands down. When you play hell dive, and get into a map with 2 to 3 stalker side objectives, the shield>anything else. That is a fact.
So this is a clear user error on your side.
There are plenty of Support weapons which both aren't a Railgun and don't require an ammo backpack.
