This finally solved my AMD driver timeout issues.
Thank you, I have been using this for about a week now. This is the best suggestion to date for me as it allows me to play at higher than low graphics settings without instantly crashing. Anyone using the 7000 series should give this a shot.
I actually found this to reduce the performance and introduce stutter on my 5950X when I tried it around launch.
After I turned down several settings and capped the fps at 85 (7900 XT) I have only experienced one crash in 100 hours or so, ignoring the crashing that can occur when doing character customization. The in-game upscaler is bad, so I use 3200x1800 on my 4K screen instead.

Critical problems for players using the AMD Radeon 7000 series of GPUs
...
Some users have found that...
* Turning off SCREEN SPACE GLOBAL ILLUMINATION works.
works for me.
I envy you.
I have the beta drivers installed as well. 23.40.19.01. I have tried using Radeon chill and I don't use the in-game scaling. I am scaling using AMD Super Resolution at the driver level.
This is a lot to just to not crash out of the game. My system is pretty stable in that I don't crash out in other games or applications.
I am not asking for AMD specific optimization or feature support. I am asking to be allowed to play the game consistently without having to guess as to what will or will not allow me to spread managed democracy.
If that is unreasonable, I can understand that. I would want to know why. At this point, I think ArrowHead should seek to resolve this and communicate the 7000 series users matter to them.
Well I lied, I just had a hard crash that killed the driver and I had to reboot. Although this is the first time I've played since the newest patch.
I'd like to figure out what is causing it too, just for the sake of science.
Also AMD systems are fine if you are not using a 7000 series GPU. AMD and Nvidia users may be having some performance issues here and there, but I have not heard that any other users than 7000 series GPU users are experiencing crashes.
I'm using a 7800XT, I also have a 4080 Super. The 4080 has crashed significantly more for me.
From 24.2.1 Release Notes:
"Improvement to intermittent driver timeout or application crash experienced while playing HELLDIVERS™ 2 on AMD Radeon™ RX 7000 series GPUs. AMD is continuing to investigate additional reports of driver timeouts and application crashes while playing HELLDIVERS™ 2."
space global illumination = off
anti aliasing = off
also limited FPS to 60
and that solved most of the problems, but after the latest patch it started again random crashes and bad FPS, then I lowered the settings to medium to get more FPS but with random crashes, today I saw a topic saying that running the game with D3D 11 solved the problems, so I added that small line in Steam option and played for 2 hours without problems on high settings with anti aliasing on and native render scale, 1440p.
but also check your AMD adrenaline maybe you changed something, for me I set it to high preset and changed only 2 options, AMD chil in helldivers 2 tab in adrenaline and turned on the 10-bit pixel format in gaming > graphics.
