Its FOMO because you might want to sit on medals to weigh your options for an upcoming warbond, it lets you have a buffer, because no, you wont have enough SC and medals to just buy everything up if you're playing normally, especially medals.
On the last page of the basic warbond you have things that cost from like 75 to 150 medals each, so you have the option of do you spend like 400 medals unlocking that last weapon only to find its crap, or do you unlock 3 weapons on a premium warbond, or wait and see what the new warbond looks like.
Trick question though, you cant do that, you literally MISS OUT on those medals if you try sitting on them because of the cap, and the game doesn't tell you you're capped, it doesn't hold off on rewards, it just EATS your medals silently.
Do you maybe have a FEAR of MISSING OUT on those wasted medals? Well you better spend them as soon as you get them than, and people I've played with had the same experience with Requisition, not knowing what to unlock and realising they were just burning Req because of the limit they didn't know existed.
Theres an illusion of choice with the free form nature of the unlocks, but in the wider perspective of a live service that looks to keep adding stuff, the early adopters are being shafted because you have no choice, you must unlock whats available at that moment, completely contrary to the point of a live service progression system.
People had issue with these caps. I honestly think you will have enough at max cap to stay ahead of the content drops to always be able to buy several, if not most, new stratagems and ship modules as they become available.
What a dumb argument to suggest people would for some reason not play with the new warbond toys if they had spent all that time with no progression, still playing the game and collecting resources... like what are they gonna unlock the new stuff and then not go back to literally what they were doing before and just play more of the game with the new stuff? WTF lol.
Seasonal items out of rotation being locked by a substantial matrix core grind is 1000x better?
You get medals in ANY difficulty here and those medals are what unlocks stuff in the battlepasses, and you can select from other battlepasses and they're permanently there and aren't locked behind the convoluted deep dive RNG hard-locked 3x-a-week matrix core grind requirement DRG has.
Hater. Be mad.
Yes, the overclock grind is certainly a bit iffy. But it's not terrible. And those things aren't seasonal.
Whereas here the game forces you to play for FOMO lite. Essentially, if you don't have enough super credits for when the good premium battle pass drops, then it's no good. And how do you even know if a premium battle pass is any good without buying it or being some youtube meta fool? You have to continuously play or you risk falling behind on the battle passes.
