The Scythe and you. What does the Scythe need?
I like myself a beam weapon, but compared to the rest of the armament at your disposal, the Scythe lacks visceral feedback and hits as hard as a stiff breeze. So what do you all think can be done to make it competitive, or at least enjoyable.

My thoughts:
- Greatly increase the time it takes for it to overheat. The weapon demands that you hold on target for a long (sometimes tedious) amount of time before it kills. But this is pared with the idea that it overheats. It comes off as a weapon that hates you for using it. this is paired with the idea that it has infinite ammo, till you overheat it, then it very much has limited ammo. I'd much rather pay for a extended cooldown period if I let it overheat, then run into situations where I run out of heat-sinks and my weak "infinite ammo" gun turns into a weak brick.

- Add a special effect to make it feel like its doing something. The gun is supposed do be a low damage, hold on target weapon. That's its niche and is not going to change. But I think giving it a high stun chance or making it set enemies on fire would make it more effective while not changing its overall purpose.

I think for the relatively low amount of damage it does needs to have its overheat decrease quicker and/or last longer and has less recoil (Even though there is relatively very little but it still bounces from using it precisely in cases of utilizing weakspots like Devastator heads or the particular spots in Berserker's chainsaw-wielding arms) but other than that, I'm hoping the addition of Weapon Attachments (If leaks are to be believed) will compensate it than it needing an outright buff elsewhere. I'm usually manning the Las related weapons and the scythe alone has been my favorite, in very rare occasions opting out because of objective-related reasons but overall is my versatile choice and hasn't failed me too much besides these few issues it has. It just has less power towards Automatons because you need accuracy to avoid being gunned down by them.

The scythe needs a total rework honestly. Ground up.

Half the range twice the damage so it feels like a proper melta gun.

What this game needs are weapons with actual projectiles, not this 1999 stone age hitscan garbage

Needs actual damage if the overheat capacity is kept. In its current state, you can't even kill a medium enemy without overheating it. It's a terrible joke. I hope the Scythe pistol won't suffer from the identical drawback.

It makes me sad that they can't buff underperforming weapons to make them useful.
faster ticks and or more damage, that's it, well and a hitmarker

penetration would be nice and better impact feedback

I have no idea what they plan to do with this weapon because one of the datamined weapons is exactly the current scythe but better in every way so I'm very interested to see what they do it differentiate the two

i didn't even quite realize there was "Taking any damage makes you whine and throw your gun to the side off target" until I started trying to give the lasers a chance.

So the fact aim sway when even crouch walking is trash, as well as return fire aim skewing that enemies do not suffer from regardless of news blurb claims? Yeah, that throws the laser rifle in the dumpster. That zero recoil stat is a scam.

This is also why people are mistaking the laser backpack for "Overpowered" The laser is actually very weak against anything but teammates. But the drone is allowed to keep the laser on their target full time instead of only being allowed to drill a beam through a weakpoint skull if the enemy is not fighting back, and you are aiming more carefully than a damned marksman rifle.

The fact the heat meter is trash in 3rd person sure does not help either. Oh boy make the crosshair spin wildly without distinct color coding, and have a soft beep you won't be able to hear in a series of explosions and monster screams.

In perfect lab conditions, it is good on paper. In reality, actual gameplay (and trash UI) make it underperform.

Sure, I CAN carefully burn the skulls out of a medium robot with it when I try. Or, I could go back to the defender SMG which can do the job and also quick kill small bots with a kill combo with a mountain of ammo.

And against bugs? Even on an ice world, too much spam for the laser's pathetic heat capacity to keep up with, even against just small trash.

We have a weapon punished damage and handling wise "Because infinite ammo!" without actually having infinite ammo. It isn't a skill issue, because clearing missions 7+ with it feels like the laser is your enemy trying to betray you instead of satisfying.

more dmg , i dont feel it does enought for how fast it overheats

Increase overheating time
Add an overheat scale next to the crosshair.
Damage should increase dramatically with beam concentration on a single target.
Or the damage should increase with the reheat.

The more an enemy is hit by the beam the more it is slowed. Increased heat/burning on enemy limbs.

The joke sounds better in portuguese.

We use the same word for Scythe and Sickle

Anyway...

Its a medium/long range weapon with pinpoint accuracy, literally. It feels weak because there isn't much feedback that you're doing damage. The enemies just slump over dead or something falls off.

Using it as my main till I get the other laser gun, its pretty good if you have some distance to work with. Just sweep the beam across each enemy. Don't shy away from using up a reload. It has the same amount of reloads as other rifles.

It feels weak because it is. It does 300 DPS for 8 seconds for a total of 2400 damage per magazine if held down... that is DEPLORABLE damage.
