Charger leg armor- shooting front leg from the front is usually a bad idea. people are either shooting back legs from the front or shooting front legs from the side or back.
From my play with the autocannon it doesn't break armor though you can attempt to impact the ground around weakspots to splash some explosion damage in. I've had a stationary charger looking at me elevated on a rock and emptied the entire backpack of ammo attempting to find a spot the autocannon could damage it without bouncing off.
It was butt or nothing last time I tested it, and the grenade launcher resupply backpack did just as well.
Autocannon addict. Though railgun is good too sometimes, so i can't blame the rant of nerf.
2) Dont try to destroy bot barracks.
Though its indeed possible to aim vent SO IT RICOCHET and act like a grenade. (Open door too i guess, never had luck to try)
3) If you got like 1-2 bullets before the half-way reload. Then shoot in the air, so you can reload.
4) Crouch.
4.5) Use the armor that reduce recoil
5) Ignore small ones and aim the "medium" soldiers bugs / or the tall robots
6) It SUCK vs armor
6.5) Dont bother with charger/bile/hulk FRONTALLY
6.6) You can kill them
if you aim their weakspot
but use lot of ammo and need positioning
(bile titan cant be killed though).
A charger with 5+ shots in BOOTY, die. Or you can DIVE-DODGE his charge AND shoot his BACKLEGS to remove armor. BECAUSE ARMOR IS TEMP-WEAKENED WHEN HE MISS CHARGE.
But can be hard to do, bc of recoil/swarm near you. Or simply bc he is far away + leg small And me having a blurry potato computer doesnt help.
7) Try to find a far away safe position
EX BONUS : The day you are lucky to get a "reloader" mate. You will laugh like a true HD.
They are not the prefered choice if you going against chargers imo, but if you insist on doing so, try aiming at parts that arent covered by the armor plate but its honestly a waste of ammo and should be dealt with by another player carrying proper anti armor gear.
Edit: Its proper usage is against medium armored enemies like guardians, devastators or the bigger red bugs. Atleast im my personal experience using the weapon
Grenade Launcher kills the exact same enemies the Autocannon does, but better, with bigger AoEs and doesn't require sitting down to reload, while also giving you a backpack slot free.
It'd be nice if it were good at something, but whatever target you're aiming to take down with it, there's better options. (Railgun kills Medium Armor/Devastators/Hulks/BroodCommanders faster, EAT/Recoilless is better for Titans + Chargers, Grenade Launcher is better for Bilebugs, Scout Striders and general use)
What they should do is give it Heavy Armor piercing like they gave the Recoilless/EAT so it can actually damage the big stuff, just make it so it doesn't one shot that stuff, but instead gives you some sustained damage to put on them. Could make each shot from it also Stun the target, so it has utility as a Support weapon that can stunlock big enemies for the Recoiless/EAT guy to finish off.
Against bots, it shines. With careful aim, everything can be brought down with 2-3 well placed weakpoint shots. For factories, I have the best luck shooting from almost head-on, but have to aim high. Like near the top lip of the little exhaust vent covering.
It's not bad against bugs, great for sealing holes, but it's not very good against chargers.
Good amount of ammo in the backpack, reload time isn't too awful as long as the mag isn't empty. Bit unwieldy, though. Crouching helps.
